For my budget and real life constraints I’m getting my dress from David’s Bridal. I just have two questions that hopefully you Bees can answer.
I have six months from the day I go in to pick my dress to the wedding day. With a fairly new dress from the David’s Bridal collection is that enough time?
Is it possible to have my appointment in one store and have them ship the dress to another store and have that store handle alterations? I’m home from school on break so I have my appointment here. I’ll be back at school student teaching next month for the next five months. So I can’t really make the eight hour trip home at the drop of a hat.

That will be more than enough time. I bought a newer (at the time) dress and it came within a few weeks. I don’t know about sending it to a different store, but they will be able to answer that over the phone so I would give them a call.
Just so you know, there are plenty of other dresses from other companies in the same price range as DB. You can get an idea of prices at weddingshoppeinc.com. They have a good selection to browse thru and you can narrow the search by price, then look for a local dealer that carries the brands of dresses you are interested in. I bought a dress at their brick and mortar store and their prices are fairly consistent with what I found in local stores.

Should be plenty of time! I got mine in a month, it came about two or three weeks earlier than they even said.
I tried on dresses in another city and then bought it from one closer. Not sure if that is an option. You may just have to get someone to mail the dress to you, they never mentioned the option of shipping it to me and I live 4 hrs away from the store.
Other option, you could just order the dress you want online and have it shipped that way.

@11mikesgirl21: Should be no problem! I ordered mine in Sept and they said it would be in Nov, but it came in Oct! I tried mine on in CO with my parents on break and then ordered the one I wanted when I returned to CA. You might do that in order to avoid tons of shipping costs.

I was only engaged for 4 months and got my dress altered 4 times
my only thing about davids is they are penny squeezers.
they talked me into buying a size 6 dress when I am only a size 3
also the undergarments can be bought somewhere else and cheaper …
follow ow your gut
but it’s plenty of Time if you get on it

Yes! But agree with PP, they will try to sell you everything that goes with the dress, plus alterations. Just get your dress and then shop around for the rest, including alterations!! I ordered my dress in June and it arrived in September, so 3 months.

I ordered my dress in July, it came in by September for my November wedding. I would think you have plenty of time.
And I agree with PP- could you try on at one store and order from the other?

I bought my dress at David’s Bridal and had to exchange it for a different size. I think they told me it would be a few weeks for the new size to come in, but it was ready to be picked up in less than a week. You’ll be fine!

I bought my dress about 2 months before my wedding from DB with no problems. If need be, you can always buy things off the shelf. I bought mine off the shelf in my size, and needed little alterations. I may have just gotten lucky, but most places, if they want your business badly enough, will make your time frame work. 6 months is PLENTY of time, but I agree with others. Go with your guy, get your undergarments somewhere else (and remember to bring them when you set up your alterations appointment), and you’ll be fine. Good luck! DB has stepped up their dress game so I’m sure you will find something absolutely beautiful and in your budget.

I just had a friend get everything done (including alterations) in one day!
I do believe you can have it shipped to another store- I think that’s how they’d do it for the bridesmaids? I feel like my mom asked that question when we were there for her dress. She wants it shipped to the wedding city so she desn’t have to fly with it.
