I have honestly found a reason every day to ask questions of all you bees since joining, and I just want to say THANK YOU because as I am realizing, I have no idea how to plan a wedding and have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of what I’m missing.
On to the invitation nonsense!
I ordered samples from David’s Bridal, the free five samples, about two weeks ago and had them shipped to my home here in Ontario, Canada. I’m assuming they’re coming from the states, has anyone had experience with DB and the time it takes to have samples arrive to Canada, also has anybody actually ordered the invites from them, and if so how long did it take to have them printed and have them arrive?
My wedding is June 22nd, and I’d like to get them out by May, we chose not to do save the dates as our invite list is fairly small and most people have heard about it already, so invites are my current paper-related concern.
Just wondering if I should pay for something a little more costly but be able to get them super quickly, or keep on keepin’ on with DB. That or just order them without seeing the samples, if they send the actual orders quicker.
Any experiences with DB would be much appreciated! (no outright flack though please, my local DB has been an absolute saviour and while I know the big company mentality can be difficult to deal with, I have only had positives so far, but if you did have a bad experience let a girl know!)

@mademoisellesacha: I don’t know about their invites, but I know I’ve had amazing success with my local store for my dress and the shoes for me and my BP. I’d talk to your store and see if they have any information!

@MsGinkgo: I have fallen in love with a dress there and it looks like they will also be very helpful for my bridesmaids’ dresses as well, but they seem pretty separate from the invites in terms of info so I’m thinking I may have to send a little email to them and be like “Hellooo I just want to see your invites pleeease!”

I didn’t get my invites or samples from DB but I can tell you that shipping times really depend on where the invites are shipping from, what shipping provider and what method they use. You should be able to go through their About Us section (if they have one), it may tell you where they are shipping from and what provider they ship with.
In most cases, if it’s being shipped within Canada it’s probably by Canada Post or UPS, you should have them within 2 weeks. If they are being shipped from the U.S. by USPS it could be a few weeks – maybe a month. If they ship by UPS/FedEx/DHL, you should check to see if there is tracking information. Most of these providers are within a couple of weeks depending on the shipping method (Standard, Express, Expedited, etc). If they are coming from California, it takes what seems like forever!!! For whatever reason shipping to and from California takes much longer than most other states.
If it was free shipping on the samples, they probably sent them by the most inexpensive method, probably USPS – which also takes the longest. Also I would think that DB would have samples on hand to send out. If you order from them, they would likely take longer since they’ll need to be printed with your details.
Our family business ships around the world, so this info is coming from my past experience. Hope it helps!
