I have just bought the DB 9612 which I absolutely love – but I’m feeling like it needs a little something extra to give it more shape around the waist. I have tried it with a few sashes, but they look kinda funny to me with the beaded line below the bust. Could I please get your opinion on which looks best? And any suggestions for making a sash work with the dress 🙂

I voted ‘without the sash’. The sash creates a second break in the dress, and there’s already a break above it. The sash looks out of place because of that.

I like the sash, but the dress looks great either way! if you want the extra detail of the sash maybe try moving the sash up to cover or replace the beading/ribbon under the bust.

You already have an empire line of beading under the bust so def no sash.

I don’t think it looks quite right around the waist. Have you tried placing it right under the bust (following that seam)?

Oh wow irkeiko, how did you do that?!!! I really like how it looks there – can’t believe I hadn’t thought of doing that.
Thanks so much for the feedback everyone, you’re confirming what I thought about the sash not working around the waist!

BritBride81: Photoshop 😉 You might try it on that way to see if you like it, and if you do, you can have your alterations person tack it on so that it stays in place under your bust.

I also posted a thread asking for dress advice. Would you mind taking a look at that? I am at a loss what to do! http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/alteration-choices-with-photoshop/#axzz38PREKCjP

I voted for without, as I agreed with another PP that it makes 2 lines and that doesn’t flow. However, I do like how it was photoshopped to be with that one seam!

This is my dress too!! I didn’t even think about adding a sash at the empire waist. I may have to play around with it. Thanks for this post, nice to get ideas!!
