We are doing a day after session with our same photographer - he is including it for free. We also wanted some different style photography, more relaxed than we had for the day of, and some less conventional surroundings. Our photographer actually suggested it before the wedding, although I wasn't sure how I felt about it at the time.
Your cost sounds expensive to me, but then we're not in a big city. Does that include any finished photos, or just the session?
We did something similar, though it was a few days before the wedding. $900 for 2 hours sounds pricey to me, especially if it's not on a weekend (i.e., they wouldn't have had any other job then anyway). If it includes the digital files or a substantial print credit, maybe, but otherwise you could probably get a session for less. Most engagement sessions I've seen (about the same time range) cost $400-600, but I suppose that was in California.
We're planning a post-wedding session with a friend of ours, who is building her portfolio. Free for us and fun for all. :)
$900 seems a bit high, especially for 2 hours, but as tanya2s mentioned, if it includes the digital files and/or print credit, it could be ok.
The $900 only includes 100 retouched hi-res pictures on CD. Silly me thinking that would include hair/makeup
If anyone knows of photographer looking to build their portfolio, lemme know!

Anyone used a different photographer for their day after session? We took epics and the pictures were OK. We haven't seen the wedding pictures yet but hoping those will be great.
I'm thinking about doing a day after session around NYC with a different photographer just to get a differernt style. But I can always wait to see how our wedding pics came out.
BTW, is $900 for a 2 hr session expensive? I think it is... Any reccomendations for photographer?
Thanks!
