I was quoted between $850 and $3000 for a day-of coordinator in Chicago. Turned out we liked the cheapest one best, and we were able to negotiate her price down to $720.
In the Philadelphia area, I have heard of anywhere from $450 to $1000 for a DOC. I think it depends on their experience and what is included in their package. Good luck!
It also depends on the number of guests you have attending. I have gotten quotes between $800 and $2500 in the Los Angeles area for my 400 guest wedding.
It definitely depends on the city, but for the SF bay area, the base price was around $1200-1600 for day of. this included rehearsal coordination also.
I talked to one in Syracuse, NY for $500... and GOD how I wish I had hired her.
If there was one thing I could do over again with my wedding day it would be hiring a DOC.
What area/city are you located in?
I'm in San Francisco, but the wedding/reception is in Marin County, just north. of SF. My day-of coordinator is $700 and it is not one but TWO people on one team! Haven't had the wedding yet so we'll see how they do.
In Kansas City, our DOC was $300 for a 2-person team plus *tons* of consultation before the wedding and it was absolutely worth every penny!
i just hired a ceremony coordinator (my reception venue came with a reception coordinator) for $200. She's coordinating everything to do with the reception. what a steal!!!
Hi! Thanks for all of your responses!
Radish, I'm getting married in Southwestern New Hampshire (Keene).
it can really vary from $500 - $5000+ (manhattan). i paid $1500, but the going rate is now around $2500 for nyc. but you can still find excellent doc's for around the $750 range as miss peony recently did!
I'm paying $2000 in Los Angeles for a 200 person wedding. That includes 2-person team, rehearsal coordination, 3 vendor meetings, and unlimited phone and email consultations. She has been absolutely fabulous. I'm several months out until my wedding and I'm already SO happy I went with her.
i'm not getting married til aug 08, and i've been going backand forth about deciding if i should hire a DOC. i've decided to do it because so many brides have told me a good DOC is worth every penny because it takes all the stress off of the bride. make sure you hire someone you mesh with and who 'gets' your vision of your special day. i'm only having about 30 guests but it's a DW and i need everything to be perfect! it gives me peace of mind that i have soneone working for me since i'm so far away. and i've talked to brides who have worked w/her before and they all love her. she charges $500 which includes rehearsal, endless calls and emails, and several consultations if i decide to visit before the big day. HTH!
Here in Washington DC the going rate is between $750-1750 for DOC, depending on experience. Hope that helps!
I'm getting married in Southern Maine- my coordinator is from NH so maybe this will help you!
She is charging $725 for day of coordination- which amazingly includes months of phone calls, emails, planning, everything!
I called around to a lot of different coordinators, ranging in price from $500 to $3000 all in that area. I also talked to one coordinator who did only one package- full coordination/planning of everything- $10,000.
Yikes! Some of these quotes sound pricey! My friends do it for each other for free! Then we buy them a really nice gift afterwards. =) We asked one friend to coordinate the ceremony and another to coordinate the reception so not one person is bogged down. Maybe if you try to get quotes for just the Ceremony or just the Reception part it might be cheaper?? Dont know if that would work....
These quotes definitely get a little scary ... I think we're just going to "coordinate" ourselves by asking friends/family to be responsible for different parts of the day and use their best judgement and go with it (such as setting up the centerpieces)!
I paid $1400 for a team of 2 DOC's in NYC. 2 pre-meetings and unlimited email and phone calls. To echo what's been said, WORTH EVERY PENNY. They took care of missing tuxedos, late transportation, missing lunch delivery. forgotten tea for the tea ceremony, discovering the door I was to enter through for the ceremony locked from the outside, and probably 100 other miscellenous things I would have not accounted for.
My coordinator (in the Sacramento Valley area of California) was $1300 for her full services. I love her already!!
I asked an extremely organized and level-headed woman, a friend of mine from work whose daughter had recently got married, to do it. She was like a second personal attendant, and considered it an honor to be asked. Maybe you know somone like that? Especially a mom who's had a daughter get married so she knows what's all happening. It really worked out great for us.
What she did: coordinated reception decorating (I had a picture of a mockup table for her, as well as a detailed list), made sure all our DIY flowers arrived and were placed, coordinated the entire family and wedding party and prompted them when to go down the aisle, and also she oversaw the reception teardown, making sure all the things I wanted to keep got sent with the right people. She was AMAZING!
I'm in San Francisco and prices have been lower than what Miss Eggplant found. Our caterer will charge $800 for a DOC and one site we looked at on the peninsula (south of the city) threw it in for $600 - then offered for free a few days after our tour as an incentive to book them quickly.
Rachel Quigley (rachelequigley@gmail.com) did my wedding last month in NYC for $500 and she was FABULOUS. Babysat the flower girl, while coordinating all the vendors, seamlessly herding the guests from the ceremony to the reception, and then even fixed the cake when we had a last minute disaster! I felt like a guest at my own wedding. If you're in NYC I definitely reccomend her, it was worth every penny!

After attending my sister's wedding this weekend, I realized just how useful a day of coordinator would be!
I know $ is a bit taboo for discussion but can anyone give me a range of what to expect if I look into this? I don't want sticker shock when I meet with someone!!!
