It really depends on what you will have the DOC do. If she is truly going to be your planner, coordinate with all vendors, do set up, take down, etc and be on call for that whole month, then $4k is high but not crazy. If it's more for just day of/week of and she'd just be helping rather than doing, then it's high. Really high. NYC might be much pricier than FL, but I'd say $500'ish is the going rate in Tampa for the week-of. If NYC is double (as in many cases), then you're right on target with $4k for the month-of.
@inspiredcreationsbyhaley: Thanks so much! This is definitely a month-before deal and includes
• On-site wedding coordinator
• Two assistants
• Bridal attendant
• All last-minute details and timeline assistance
in that case, for 4 people on-site day-of and a month of coordination before, I think that's not a bad deal. The full $10k would be crazy expensive, though :)
Our month of coordinator who also had 4 assistants day of and did a ton leading up to the wedding was $1800. It was money well spent. She took care of everything the month leading up to the wedding and the day off. Made all phone calls, arrangements, etc. I'm in LA which is not a cheap city. But 4K seems crazy expensive for month of.
@inspiredcreationsbyhaley: Got it. We definitely need someone good, and extra hands would be helpful, because our wedding is a touch complicated and involves handling buses to and from the zoo, a hybrid ceremony, etc. Thanks so much for your thoughts!
So happy! She and her team were phenomenal. We had an elaborate wedding with lots of vendors to coordinate because we brought everything into the huge venue. And tons of DIYs to set up. She took care of everything with a smile and was completely unseen and behind the scenes. She assigned one of her assistant to me for the day who had everything I needed at all times and was so helpful. All in all she was awesome.
@Meowkers: That's awesome. Totally reassuring. :-) Thanks for the thoughts!
I've seen rates around here starting at $800 for day-of stuff - handing the last round of calling vendors a week or two before the wedding, setting up stuff on the day, herding people etc. I think the $800 was for people newer to the business though, and only 1 or 2 people, not 4.
@amm365: Hi! I'm getting married at the Bronx Zoo too! We were so lucky to find a day-of coordinator that my fiance works with and has years of experience, but is finally branching out into her own company and wants more work for her profile... thus less $$. Did you find someone? Also - when are you getting married? I am looking for hotels for our guests to stay in and thought I'd see if you had found any. Thanks!

Hi all,
My wedding venue (the Bronx Zoo!) doesn't provide a day-of coordinator, and we definitely want to hire one. There's an awesome-looking deal right now on Gilt City for an extremely highly rated wedding planner to do your day-of/month-before for $4000. Her normal price is about $10,000.
Can anyone help put this price/discount in context? No other DOCs I've researched seem to have prices posted on their sites so I have no idea what a normal range would be. Is $4K crazy expensive, or a good deal for someone in this category?
(We're not attempting to do our wedding for dirt cheap, but we don't want to spend money we don't have to...)
Thanks!
