    @peonyinlove:  Our wedding was in a similarly non-traditional venue and my DOC’s fee was DEFINITELY the most well-spent chunk of our budget. We didn’t have to worry about a thin on the day of our wedding and our friends/family were just able to enjoy themselves! Ours cost $1200 for about the same as your package, but it also included 6 staff members to assist with setup and cleanup. I’d definitely ask if she’ll have anyone else helping her with setup/cleanup because its a huge job for one person!

    @peonyinlove:  my ceremony was in a park and reception in a vacation home so me and my friends and family had to do a lot of set up and prep ourselves. I wish I had had a DOC to coordinate vendors and help set up/break down! Get one!

    @peonyinlove:  Oh I should clarifiy that we only had our venue for less than 2 hours before guests arrived and only 1 hour for cleanup, so I should say that the only way she was able to get the job done that fast was to have extra bodies. If you have nearly unlimited time at your aunts property, it might not be as much of a concern.

    My DOC is included with my wedding package/venue (very high-end hotel) and she’s been amazing so far, I absolutely would have hired someone if I didn’t already have a DOC, I don’t want any of my guests or myself worrying about all the little details the DOC handles :-)!!!

    I kind of wish I had one.  There were little things I forgot that I shouldn’t have had to worry about, but bug me now. Nothing major but it would have been nice if there was someone else thinking about them.

    I used a DOC. She was $1500 and I got her and a team of girls on my wedding day, I think it was close to 12 hours of them handling my wedding.  I was a DIY bride (DIY flowers for both ceremony and reception, DIY decor for reception, as well as DIY cakes), so she and her team were in charge of transporting all of my flowers, decor, cakes to the ceremony and reception venues (which were an hour apart).  They also helped at the rehearsal, helped at the ceremony directing guests, and helped set up and break down my reception decor and that sort of stuff.   It was absolutely money well spent.  It was a bit pricey but for the peace of mind that it brought me it was totally worth it!!

    @peonyinlove:  the dumb little things I forgot/noticed:

    I had my parents and IL’s bouts and corsages sent to the venue and forgot to give them out.

    We brought the guest book and I forgot to put a pen with it (I even had the damn gold pen).

    It would have been nice if I didn’t have to make sure the photogs and DJ’s got their meals (they did without problem, but I felt responsible to check.)

    Having someone to direct guests as a PP pointed out.

    And having someone who executes weddings for a living as a sounding board would have been great.  We did ok but it’s always nice to hear from a pro the things you need to look out for.

    So as you can see, nothing disasterous, it just annoys me.

    Yeah, I mean I planned out a detailed schedule and assigned people tasks but there just wasnt enough time to do everything. My poor family and me were so stressed until we had cocktails in hand 🙂
