We are recruiting a couple of cousins and aunts to set up. They will have a box per table with a print out of the set up. Just before something starts, they will beat the crowd and light the candles!
Do you have anyone else you could hire to help out? Like a bridesmaid's little sister, or something like that? I hired the woman who cleans my mother's house to arrange and set up my DIY flowers, and it worked out perfectly-- sometimes you just need another set of helping hands, but they don't need to be a wedding professional.
Great post, I've been wondering the same thing and even a couple of coordinators to ask about just setting up, and they thought I was crazy! And after they told me their quotes, I thought they were crazy. Anyway, I'm going to have to start recruting. Should I print directions for them for all items, pictures? What did you ladies do?
haha! glad I am not the only one....listen I went to mny photographer today who had suggestions of people who she knows of that help with just day-of set-up that were not outrageously expensive...i would just start asking people (vendors) assoc. with your wedding if they know anyone - or if they seem reliable..ask if they have any friends that might be interested in making a little cash...I like the idea of having people that are not associated with the actual wedding party because there are no hurt feelings if your ideas clash - stricly business!
Hugs:-)

If you have guests that have volunteered to help and you trust to do a great job , I say go for it! I would definitely assign someone to be in charge (for me, it would be my mom) and train them on exactly what you want everything to look. I would say to buy this person dinner and wine, sit down and plan out everything! Do a centerpiece trial, take photos, and be super organized on the day-of. I've heard of many people that put all of the supplies for each table into its own box (ie. 10 boxes for 10 tables), along with separate boxes for guestbook/gift table, lables for the buffet (if you're having one), signs, etc.
I think it would be a LOT of work to do yourself on the day of, but if you trust your helpers to show up on time and make it look like your vision, do it!
I definitely would not do it yourself! You're right ... you should be relaxing and enjoying your day! I am asking my very close aunt to do the decorating for us. I wanted to ask someone close, but that is not in the wedding party or immediate family. I plan on having her at the rehearsal to go over exactly how everything should be set. Good luck! :)

Hello fellow brides to be!!
my question of the moment that I keep trying to ponder....what are you doing about your day of decorating? Personally, I am creating a lot of the items that we plan to use at both the ceremony site and the reception site (seperate) - but I can not decide how to actually get everything set up on the actual wedding date.
I am not (as of yet..) hiring a wedding planner, so that option is out..Also, I am very much a perfectionalist, but on a realists' budget...so I am left with the options of:
So I know I am not the only one who has this predicament...so please advise!! Thank you in advance!!
