I have a fairly tentative schedule. Ceremony is at 5:30pm

We are starting at 2pm and going somewhere to do first look shots and bridal party photos.  Planning on 2 hours including transportation time (15 min each way).  So that takes us to 4pm.  Then probably 30-45 min to do formal photos with our immediate families.

That’s all I’ve got planned.  We might do a few photos after of just us.  I’m sure my mother would like some photos of her with her siblings but I’m not sure how to do this.  I think it might be best to ask my photographer to get some shots of them at some point during the evening.

My reception is immediately following the ceremony at the same location…so no gap large enough for my bridal party to go to different locations.  So that’s why we’re doing them all before.  Unfortunately there is no scenery near the venue (other than the venue itself) that is good for photos either.

@RoseyBee:  Nope doing them before.  I honestly can’t imagine it taking more than 20-30 min since our families are so small.  I don’t even really want a cocktail hour so that’s part of it too.  Though I haven’t decided for sure.  Mostly I just don’t want to worry about doing pictures after the ceremony, I’d rather have everything done so I can relax.

We started around 1:30. The photographer came and took some shots of the girls and guys getting ready, then at 2:00 I got into my dress with my sisters and we had a “first look” with my parents after I was all dressed.  Then, around 2:30 was my first look with DH and we took some pictures of the two of us.  Then, we did bridal party and family portraits.  Then, it was time for the ceremony.  During the cocktail hour, DH and I went outside for some pictures of us two.  It took most of our cocktail hour up because it was crazy windy outside. I definitely recommend doing your bridal party photos before the ceremony if you can.

@RoseyBee:  Yes all our photos were basically done before the ceremony and it didn’t ruin a thing!

The first look was our favorite part of the day – it was so awesome to get to see his reaction to seeing me for the first time up close and personal, and be able to interact in that moment – we have a amazing pictures of that moment, of his expression seeing me, us hugging and wiping tears away from each other. It was really really awesome for him to be able to say omg you look so beautiful, rather than just seeing his reaction from the other end of the aisle and not getting to hug or talk to each other right in that moment.

We have another amazing picture of him grinning ear to ear as I walk down the aisle.  They’re two completely different but equally special moments – there’s seeing your bride for the first time all dressed up, but then there’s seeing your bride walking towards you at your wedding to marry you!

I’d be shocked if you regret it!
