I am in the process of findind a DOC.  I heard it really helps to have one so you can relax the day of your wedding and let them handle everything!

It depends on how complex your wedding is. Is it all held in one location (Sofitel) or is your ceremony and reception in separate locations? Do you have a large wedding party? Is there any unusual traditions you are incorporating or lots of DIY projects to set up? Do you have extras like photobooth delivery or lighting design to coordinate?

A DOC does really help the day to go smoothly and lifts the burden from your shoulders and that of your family and wedding party. I was really able to enjoy my wedding day with my husband because of our DOC.

I’m trying to make that decision, too.  I have a friend of a friend lined up to help out until the wedding begins to save some money.  Unfortunately I’m having a tough time finding someone at a reasonable rate!

I would say this is a personal decision.  Only you and your Fi know how much you’ll be able to take on the day of the wedding.  I really wanted to hire a DOC, but my Fi insisted that he be the one to set up the ceremony and reception.  And he did such a great job!  I thought it would be more stressful to do everything ourselves, but my Fi really stepped up to the plate and everything ran super smoothly.  However, we were also super organized and had help from immediate family and a couple friends.  If this doesn’t sound like you, you should seriosuly look into prices and vendors.  Good luck!

We didn’t have one, but my personal attendant helped a lot the day of to make sure everything went smoothly.  She did a great job!  If you don’t have a DOC, make sure you have at least a point of contact for your vendors for the day of.  You don’t want to, nor will you have the time, to answer the calls.  When my phone rang, my PA answered it!

We didn’t have one, but I soooo would have if I could go back and do it over. At first I thought it sounded stupid, like what would a person know to do if they were only there for that one day, but now that I’ve gone through the wedding, I know better lol

Maybe we didn’t completely need one, I mean the wedding went on just fine without it, but I would have liked for my mom to relax a little more, and I wish I didn’t have to keep telling people what needed to be done, or what needs to be where, etc. It just would have been a bit easier. We were organized, but the day of the wedding things just kind of turned into chaos. Some things got left behind, didn’t get passed out, etc, but in the end it worked out. Just would have been easier…

oh, and I should add that I had a small wedding (50 people) and my ceremony and reception was all in the same place, but I STILL feel like I really could have used one!
