Hey ladies! So I love love love the look of a bride and groom walking out of into a sea of their friends holding sparklers for them, but I don’t know how it would work with our wedding. We’re doing a noon ceremony, then a tour of the city/photo shoot with our guests, an outdoor cocktail hour on a terrace, then the reception in the hotel where everyone is staying. The sun won’t set until an hour after our cocktail hour is over, so there’s no logical time when everyone will be outside and it’s dark. I was considering giving everyone sparklers for our entrance into the cocktail hour, on the balcony, but I wanted your opinions on if that’s going to be a waste since it won’t be dark yet. I know it won’t be _as_ dramatic, but at the same time I remember doing sparklers during the day on the 4th of July as a little kid, and they still looked cool…
I also don’t like the idea of guests throwing anything at us (birdseed, flower petals, etc) because I don’t want to worry about being hit in the eye or getting it down my dress, and I’m scared of bubbles popping on people’s nice clothes and ruining them. So, if we don’t do sparklers, I’m pretty sure we’re just not going to do anything… What do you bees think?

Here was a recent post about sparklers (see the poll and comments). Basically, they can be somewhat dangerous, can ruin clothing (i.e. your wedding dress), etc. Just something to consider.

Soarklers can be dangerous but a little common sense and planning goes along way and that can be said for just about anything. I would recomend using colored sparklers as gold sparklers really don’t perform well during daylight. The downside is that colored sparklers are very short and therefore their duration is not that great. Another option would be to use champange poppers but there is cleanup involved. You can check those out here:
I’ll tell you what, we are doing a fireworks demo tomorrow. During the day we’ll demo some sparklers, take some video and post it along with our feedback.

I think it would be a waste during the daytime events and cocktail hour. Are y’all going to leave the reception before everyone else? If you are then people can send y’all out with the sparklers.

You can’t see them very well during the day, so I’d opt for something else.
