No :( I checked with the landlord (they live on the same property) and it turns out one of their kids has a crazy cat allergy - we're not talking sneezing and itchy eyes, we're talking inability to breathe and hospital visits. They suggested a dog instead, haha, but dogs don't do well home alone all day, so that option is out too. :(
Aw I am sorry to hear that! Maybe someday you will move and be able to get one.

"This weekend, the Washington Humane Society (WHS) will host a special Empty the Shelter event, in the hopes of adopting out every single adoptable animal in both their shelter locations on Georgia Avenue, NW, and New York Avenue, NE. Throughout the event, WHS will waive all adoption fees on all animals."
I might be getting a cat!
