My fiancee and I are nearly ready to commit to a venue, but I don’t want to do so before having a better range of how much catering will run us, knowing it’s a huge % of our budget and I’d love your help getting an idea of the potential range.
DC area brides, two questions:
1) Do you have an estimate of how much it ran you per person, inclusive of appetizers, a buffet with stations, and equipment (linens, chairs), service, tax and tip? Right now, I am budgeting $115/pp for this, and then separately for alcohol but not sure if that’s off base. We have 10 caterers we can select from at the venue and they all seem fairly standard. Any hidden costs I’m not anticipating? Any way we can do this lower with a “standard” catering option at a more formal venue (we’ve ruled out bbq and food trucks, for example :o)
2) How much should we budget for full bar if we can bring in our own wine, beer, alcohol? Recognize this depends on the crowd we have but mostly curious about standard costs from caterers to do this – i.e. permit fee, corkage fee, etc? Should I plan on much of a cost savings here? Booze is fairly important to us.
