early week usually works best for me! very excited for a meet up this month since i'm under the 1 month mark!
Pretty much any day works for me, but except the 23rd and 24th. I'm going bridesmaid shopping in Baltimore then!! Hooray!
Any day works for me! If it's a weekday, can it be a late dinner?
Yes, if it's a weekday, it'll likely be around 7pm. :) Is that late enough for our Baltimore ladies to make it down?
technically any day works for me except on the 23rd, i have a dress fitting at 4pm in Fairfax, so i doubt i will get back into DC until much later... im a big fan of tues or thurs (tues is my cheat day on my diet LOL)
I can do pretty much any day but evenings work best for me! YAY!
C'mon, I know we have more DC & Baltimore bees than this!!
I want to make it to this one so bad but it looks that the only day I will be available maybe out which is the 26th.
Ah! This is my wedding week! No dice! I'll have to do August.
@silverbrooke: hmm.... I suppose you have a good excuse for skipping :) and yes, we will be sure and have plenty of meetups in the future!
No, my wedding is in Vermont, so I'm flying up to Burlington on Monday night!
We'll miss you, silverbrooke!
Seems like dinner & drinks on the 20th and the 22nd are neck and neck! I could do both! Ladies, what are your preferences between the two?
I can do both but prefer 22nd since im off on the 23rd LOL but either works for me...
This is not really a comment, just a way to subscribe to the email thread so I can keep track of the when and where. Sorry for this post - WB is sort of annoying in that you seem to have to post something to subscribe to the emails. :o)
I'm all about the 22nd (or any of the weekend days/times)- I have jury duty on the 20th :(
@mspencils: Boo jury duty! It seems like the 22nd is best -- can we go ahead and pick this date?
How does everyone feel about Ping Pong at gallery place? They take reservations for 5 or more. I hear the cocktails are good and it's 2 blocks from the redline/green/yellow and 5 blocks from orange/blue.
Theres a place called Ping Pong at GP? (and im awesome with that since its right where my office is :)!!!) *googling washington post GOG* lol
checked out ping pong - the drinks are a bit pricey but the food looks good. http://www.pingpongdimsum.us/ Are we doing happy hour or an actual meal?
If we are doing HH - heres a good site for specials in the area: http://www.dchappyhours.com/index.phtml
@spaganya: I'm not opposed to happy hour but we need to make sure that all the Baltimore/MD/VA/etc. ladies have enough time to get there after work. I know daydreamwanderer originally said 7pm...
PS: I see your wedding is going to be in Williamsburg! That is going to be our weekend getaway sometime soon when we can scratch up the money!
@ribbons: Ping Pong looks great - I'm liking the drink menu! I've never actually had dim sum before. How many dumplings do you typically order?
Here is the Post info + Tom's review: http://www.washingtonpost/gog/restaurants/ping-pong-dim-sum,1160008.html
@daniellemybelle: I've never been here either :) I just keep hearing the cocktails are really good.
I'm up for pretty much anywhere though!
@daniellemybelle: ahh cool beans - then in that case, i would say all for ping pong - havent had dumplings in a long time. Also coco sala is nice for groups and the food is good.
and i LOVE williamsburg best place ever... of course im biased :)
@septcabride: thats not a great review....
@Spaganya - I know. :o(
I just ran a search on Open Table (can you tell I am bored at work?) for reservations on Thursday (the 22nd) for 20 people. I have no idea how many of us there are, but that was the highest OT would let me go without looking at private rooms. Ping Pong does NOT have a reservation open (although Ribbons may have had better luck via phone??), which may not be surprising because it is new. Places that have huge tables open:
The Heights (American food, Columbia Heights - green/yellow line)
Commissary (owned by same people as The Heights, Logan Circle - not super metro convenient, but walkable from green/yellow and red lines)
America (American food - duh, at Union Station - red line)
Grillfish (seafood, walkable from red line and orange/blue lines)
Meze (Mediterranean tapas - really good!, Adams Morgan, so not super metro accessible)
There were also some places that I had never heard of, so someone else might want to take a look, too.
The review link didn't work for me. Yelp reviews for the food are so-so, drinks seem to be where its at. I'm cool with whatever. Just so you all know, if you wanted to go here at happy hour, drinks are $5 according to a Yelp reviewer.
I must say, Coco Sala looks awesome! Cocktails are pricey though - do they have happy hour specials? Or I could bring a flask...
@septcabride: I'm not sure we would need a huge table. From what I've seen on the blog, most meet-ups get a turn out of 5-10. I counted 13 people who have responded to this thread saying they could make the 22nd, but most likely not everyone will end up being able to come.
Again, no major preferences here! I'm excited to try something new :) Since I'm new to the area and a Baltimorean, something close to the Metro would be nice.
Thanks daniellemybelle!
I ran another OT search... with 8-10 people we can go wherever we want... lots of openings.
Just to be clear, too, I am totally fine with Ping Pong. I am totally fine with whatever.
I am find with Ping Pong! Are we doing 7PM? So excited for some wedding therapy!
