Anyone want to do another DC meetup? Or just come hang out.
I'm thinking something where we can walk around and talk.
Like... the zoo?
Or, we can eat somewhere, and then I can go to the zoo. :)
Sounds like fun! Can we do it early in the day though? It is a 3 hr drive home for me and don't want to drive it late at night. I am such a baby about getting lost in the city at night. Please keep me posted. Thanks!
@secondchances:OK! Early in the day, like a picnic at noon? Or like, actually early?
Also... I will delay this depending on the weather. I'm highly favoring the zoo. :)
I said yes :) to picnic on the mall or a meal out. Would a weekend in October work for people so that we have enough time to prepare... (okay okay, I've got plans for all of September and I want to hang out with bees, you've got me). If it's September though, I can probably do early on the 17th or afternoon on the 18th?
OOOH, we are moving to DC at the EO Sept, right before our honeymoon. So if October is an option, I would LOVE to meet some people in our new city!! :)
There are picnic tables in the zoo, just inside the front entrance or down by the parking lots, near the river (between the two back entrances), if that helps at all.
I live just around the corner from the zoo, so I would probably swing by if that's where it is!
Also, parking at the zoo is like $15, but there's a lot of street parking around, for driving bees.
October, October! But not Columbus day weekend :) I am up for anything in DC. I love the zoo but we could always do the mall or some outdoor place for margaritas!
@cucumbersandwich: Oooh, I'm always up for margaritas.
I'm in for October as well!
I'm in, but I need to say OCT. My whole month of Sept. is BOOKED. However, with football in town my Oct. isn't much better. But I do know I can't do the first weekend of Oct nor the 15th/16th.
@ellabee: I love the zoo idea! Any time between 10am and 5pm is good for me. What is the weather like in DC in October though?
A weekend in October would be lovely. September is escaping from me and FAST. :)
I'd love to, but going to be traveling in Japan the first fews weeks of October and I don't know if I'll be up for much of anything for the rest of the month. Jet Lag (especially a 13 hours difference) usually kicks my butt for a few weeks upon my return.
A DC weekend in october will probably mean a light to medium jacket and pants :) That is how I define weather... boots are possible. It shouldn't be too bad to meet outside, but meeting inside isn't a bad idea either. Picnic on the mall or zoo would be fine (barring any rain). I'm not opposed to volunteering my place (depending on how many people we have) but it's really, REALLY small (a glorified studio/1bd). I live right by the Capitol South metro (orange/blue).
Would love to join in! Assuming anyone even remembers a bee from so far back in the day.... Any time but the weekend of 9/24 works on this end (on account of I have no life).
We have so many dc blogger bees! Craziness! Major metropolitan area and all, I guess...
3rd weekend of October or 4th?
And... potluck picnic at the zoo, and then who ever's still up for it, we can walk down to some shopping neighborhoods and wander/shop.
@dorsay:We may end up with a very small group, so that just might be perfect, then we can do a museum if it's raining, or the zoo if it's sunny.
Sounds fun! I'm just joining Weddingbee but would love to meet everyone if it works w/my schedule!
@PitBulLover: I think Ellabee mentioned that the meetup was cancelled.
we'll have to plan another one after the holidays, but before the wedding season gets crazy-- maybe Feb-ish?
@mmsva: yes definitely!! I am free in the new year so that would be great!
@mmsva:I got super um... pukey and never managed to get my organization skills together enough for an event. My hubby mentioned he's never been ice skating.
Perhaps a skating rink outing in January or so?
@ellabee:Skating sounds awesome. I promise I fall down at least three times.
@katyd: :) I fall a lot, too, it's all good. So... when in January works best?
And where are the good rinks?
@ellabee:I know there is a rink at Pentagon City, but it is kinda small. I think there is also one near the sculpture garden...I might be imagining that.
oo skating sounds fun! not sure if anyone is interested, but there is a pretty big rink in laurel, md called the Gardens Ice House. Its not outside, but it would hold all of us. Its only about 30 min outside of DC
Sounds like fun!
@katyd: yes there is one by the sculpture garden!
@acebride: I would definitely do that!!
There's also a rink in Reston Town Center (in VA) and Rockville Town Center (in MD)
@acebride: I think we need to focus on in DC because... 30 min out of DC in MD.... that's a 90 minute drive for me and I wouldn't go. I guess I don't really live in NoVa even, but I'd like to be able to meet up in DC so the DC and VA and MD bees can all go.
Sculpture garden could be perfect. Right in the middle, and accessible by car and by Metro. Yay or nay?
@ellabee: I say yay, but the only issue is that it may be hard to meet. I think it would be best if we could meet somewhere beforehand (like a restaurant or a cafe of one of the museums) so that we could get everyone together. I guess it would also depend on how many people decide to attend.
I'm a NoVa bee and would love to meet up! Anything metro accessible in DC would make me happy-- I despise driving in the city. I love Reston Town Center (there's a pretty amazing wine bar near the rink) but agree that would be pretty far for MD bees.
Count me in. Where ever you decide just message me and I'll be there. :o)
What about Pentagon Row? They have ice skating, restaurants, metro, and a parking garage. Close to Southern Maryland, easy to get to from the Beltway.
