My nieces (ages 5 and 8) go to Aquinas Montessori in Mount Vernon. My brother and sister-in-law love it, and the kids do, too. They highly recommend it. Personally, I was astounded when my oldest niece was 6 and told me all of the continents and pointed them out on a map– and she knew countries and capitals in South America.

rbuchanan09:  Im not a mom but live about 10 minutes outside of DC in MD. Thomas Jefferson in Alexandria is nationally ranked, you have to test to get into it even though its a public school, its very rigorous. Most schools in the WCAC are pretty well heard of and have a good reputation…McNamara is a popular highschool, as well as St. Johns, Good Counsel and especially DeMatha for boys (also very respected for its athletic program). Not to keen on schools that go from elementary to highschool…but those highschools are pretty well off relative to other schools. Roosevelt in Greenbelt, MD is also a public school but their Science and Tech program is very good. I actually went to their science & tech highschool.
