i don’t know about prices because i’m not getting married here, but i love cake love! either u st. or silver spring.

that’s a pretty ridiculous delivery fee, but i’m guessing it’s because of the hassle of very limited parking in the district?

Wait, are you asking whether the bakeries are Metro accessible so that you can pick up your own wedding cake and bring it to the venue to avoid the delivery fee? Because that is a REALLY BAD IDEA, if that’s what you’re figuring (if you’re only asking for ease of going to tastings, good for you for being environmentally friendly!). But seriously – $150 is steep for delivery, but it is a drop in the bucket of the overall wedding, and it’s really, really, really important that your cake doesn’t melt/tip/bet bumped etc on the way to your venue. And the only way to make that happen is with a delivery!

No – I don’t like Cake Love.  It’s not good IMO.

We went with Fluffy Thoughts – not sure if it’s near the metro but trust me when I say that if it isn’t, it’s worth Zip Car for a few hours (tie it in with a good grocery trip or something).  Seriously – it was INSANE.  I loved every minute of it and they were SO much friendlier than Just Cakes.

Their delivery charge is $50 within a 15 mile radius of the bakery (which DC is, at least our Dupont venue is) and they have a $150 deposit for the cake stand rental, if you rent one, which you get back when your return the cake stand.  Our cake ended up being much cheaper than I thought it would be – and it’s three tiers with three different flavors (no fondant) and I’m SO excited for it.

They were fantastic to work with so far.

There is a place right by adams morgan that has a sign in their window saying they do wedding cakes- Kogibow bakery I think.  Haven’t tried it, but I see it all the time on the bus.  They also have bubble tea 🙂

Also, if you’re up for it…try Sticky Fingers in columbia heights.  It’s a vegan bakery but I swear it’s SO good it hurts.  It’s definitely worth trying – go there, have a slice of cake….so good.

I know it’s a cost, but sometimes a few hours of zip car is worth it if you combine it with another errand.

I think Furin’s in georgetown does wedding cakes too- but I would think they’d be expensive.
