Over the holidays, I got a promotion to a management position in an artistic organization. I’m thrilled- it’s more creative input, more money, and the best part- I can work from home most of the time, once I step into the role full time.
I’m in training now. Due to the fact that I recently became pregnant, there is some flexibility regarding my hours when I work from home after giving birth. I’ve been there for a while and am very grateful for their flexibility. So I’m overall thrilled!
Anyway- the training has been stressful. Although the managing director CHOSE to leave her position (the one I’m taking over), she is being a complete nightmare for some reason during this process. I always thought we had a good relationship. But recently she has been totally two faced. She is incredibly kind to me, and then I have heard (and been sent emails) where she has criticised me behind my back.
She is acting openly hostile towards my other co-worker whom she is also training.
I know she is angry at the owner for a variety of reasons, and is probably just taking it out on us. I don’t really care why she is acting the way she is.
With pregnancy hormones and fatigue…I’m just having an extra hard time keeping my cool and being patient.
I guess I need a pep talk for me to keep my cool. I’m all for being confrontational, but unfortunately I really need her help to be able to take over effectively. So I think I need to be smart about this and just get through this process as peacefully and drama-free as possible. I’ll be politely direct with her…but I can feel myself getting really close to a yelling match! Argh.
Due to her behavior, the owner is tense, and all around…I just don’t want to get wrapped up in the negativity.
Any advice bees?
