For what it's worth...I think you made the right decision.I also think that your parents will come around and realize that this was the best thing for them AND for you and your FI.
I cant wait to here all about the wedding of your dreams! Im glad this somewhat has worked out for you. Im sure once your mom cools down she will realize it was for the best.
I am honestly just happy that FI and I realized that we CAN make this work. I mean, we truly live a bit unorganized, but with a bit of organization and thriftiness- we can DO IT!!

Dear Bees,
In reference to the post ROCK<VANILLA FROSTING>HARD PLACE (not sure how to HTML it in here)...
I spoke with MomVanilla this evening after evading her phone calls for a full 24 hours and lots of talks with FI. I informed her this evening that FI and I will be paying for the wedding ourselves. I told her that I feel that the money issues are truly putting too much of a strain on our relationship and that I don't want to feel like I'm letting her down. Naturally, in her crazy mind, my mom informed me that she feels that what I'm really saying is that her money is not good enough. I told her that that is not the case and that I do not want her to feel that way and that what I am trying to do is salvage what I can of our relationship.
FI and I are COMPLETELY ELATED right now!! I have never felt so empowered and I am SO excited that we get to truly plan the wedding of our dreams. I have already emailed the catering company and the Dream Venue!!
I want to sincerely thank all of the bees who have supported me through this entire momzilla saga. I do hope that my posts from now on are filled with nothing but trivial wedding questions and fun!!
