@ccranetobe: Birth Control did that to me. I was working out like a crazy woman but my mid section refused to shrink!!! I looked tone everywhere else but on my gut area. The worst part was, my core is really strong!!! i can do more crunches, sits up, core balancing that my FH who....has an 8 pack!!! Then one day my body started feeling weird to i stopped taking the BC......i dropped 10 lbs!!!! mostly on my gut area! I could not believe it....I was carrying 10 lbs around for 15 years because of BC.
serious? maybe I need to go off BC.. I didnt think that would contribute to part of my problem! gee whiz. I thought I was just being healthy and that it was so stubborn that it wouldnt go away.. However I do admit I still need to work on my fitness. Im fit but im not super super fit.
Thanks so much @MrsCunningham2B:!
@ccranetobe: I'm totally serious about it! That was the case for me.......Although I only found out by accident because my body finally had enough of artificial hormones. It was the last thing that i would have thought was causing me not to loose the last extra 10lbs. And I was feeling really bummed too after i got done with my first round of P90X Doubles. I didn't know what i was doing wrong, i followed everything on the nutrition part and workout program....i was religious about it!
Why is the female body so complicated?!!!
I also heard that stomach fat can be due to stress and sugar. Dr. Oz talks a lot about belly fat so maybe look some stuff up on his website.
@ccranetobe: I am so with you!! The women in my family specifically hold weight in just the tummy area. It does.not.go.away. I have just come to the conclusion that as soon as I am done having children, there will be liposuction!
Oh my spare tire. How I know it well. I found watching my diet really helped and without noticing it I cut out a lot of sugars and sweets out of my diet when I do that - of course that was pre-wedding and now post-wedding I'm back to snacking on chocolate. Ah well. More of me to love.
@ccranetobe: Yup, my family are belly fat people too. I have always had a little "pooch" on my lower abs, even as a kid. It's where I gain weight first, and lose it last.. go figure. I think it's just genetics!
You are not alone!
Yes! It's the widest part of me. Lots of women get lucky and their weight goes to their curves. Nope, mine goes straight to the belly. :(
I've struggled with this for my whole life. I feel you!
Ugh I've always had this little pooch right under my belly button, in my lower stomach, and even at my thinnest it's still there. Looking at my mom, I noticed she has it too, so I guess it runs in the family :( I think at 25 I have to stop calling it my 'baby fat' lolz.
Weight gain in the tummy can most definitely be related to hormones. Take a look around at middle aged women about to or going thru menopause.
My doc also says that genetics are a factor as well.
I hate my belly pooch too. =[ ALways had it. IT just got worse after I had my daughter. Sigh.
like seriously if I could loose ANY of my belly fat I would be able to wear a decent street size top.. instead I have to get one size bigger than what my shoulders and boobs are just so it can get around my tummy..
im glad im not alone..
@caszos: stress and sugar aye? im not stressed but I do have a sweet tooth for gum drops... need to cut that out!
@curlyncurvy: I have always had a little bit of a tummy... I get no fat anywhere else... just my tummy.. its just plain ridiculous and causes many a frustration.
I even thought of getting a tummy tuck when Im older older.. which is insane as I have never been one to alter my physical appearance by surgery.
anyone who had a bit of a tummy and got rid of it?
I'm a tummy girl too!!! Spanx, baby. Spanx. And I found a wedding dress that sucks in and camouflages beautifully.
Even when I was a skinny-mini in high school, I had a tummy. It's just where my family gains weight. I'll never have a completely flat stomach, and I'm okay with that!
My weight fluctuates, but the first place it arrives or disappears from is my belly. I actually look pregnant if I eat too much because of how I'm shaped. And i've never been able to achieve actual definition in my abs, despite playing sports, working out and eating right my whole life. If I was super rich, I'd probably get lypo, haha!
I am a big bellied woman from a long line of big bellied women...sad but true. My FI and I have an agreement...after we are done with having kids AND I maintain a healthy weight for a year after that, I can do a tummy tuck. He is seriously NOT a fan of cosmetic surgery AT ALL but I told him that he will never understand how frustrating it is to work out and lose everything except the one thing you WANT to lose...the belly. He is naturally skinny so he works out to tone...not to lose. Men are so lucky *sigh*

I am getting over you... I exercise 4 times a week, mostly cardio work and abdominal and upper strength.. But I cant get over the keg you are becoming. I have tried dieting and eating right and I have tried the 30 day shred.. have attempted the C25K program and only managed to run 3kms before I ran out of steam.
I have friends who work out less than me and of the same hieght and even the same body shape but never put on that middle tyre. One of my friends her weight gain goes to her girls and no where else!!
I would like to be able to try on a dress where I dont see the tyre sticking out..
Please deflate...
