If you are going to put the annoying little break in the page where you advertise posts that other posters have enjoyed could you please change it up daily or weekly.
I do not care to strass my shoes and I would at least like to see what other helpful posts people have suggested.
Thank you,
Concerned Bee
I'll move my post!
Ha ha. I was thinking the same thing! And doesn't it say, tip of the week?
LOL - I don't even LOOK at the ad.... but, now that you mention it - those sparkly shoes have been on there forever!
I know, I was like, "man how long has this been here? doesn't it say "week?""
@oracle:Yes! I would bet at least this entire month. If not longer. I don't even really get why it's there since it isn't technically an advertisement so it doesn't make them any extra money that I could think of.
I know it's kind of frustrating because no one liked it when they first put it up. It annoyed me to no end that they added it and now they don't even bother updating.
WTF. Take it down or update it. Srsly.
Lol, I was thinking the same thing last week. It's been the shoes forever.
I thin k it has been the shoes since I started here several months ago.If it changed I never noticed it.
Seriously! At first I was confused and never looked at posts below it. I hate it there. I don't even know why it's there! Post it on the main page!
@TinyTina: Agreed. But, it doesn't matter what we say or how many times we complain, it wont change and it wont go away. Normally I feel like the bee listens to us but in this case, we have been bitching about it since it was put up and they just don't care. It sucks but it's true.
The backfat one was on there for what seemed like forever, then it changed to the shoes...and now that one has been up for months. I'm ready for a new one too. :)
@Ms Hedgehog:I would like to know its purpose of why it is so important that they don't remove it because the users dislike it.
Maybe it's just because I never paid any attention to it but..
DID IT GET BIGGER!?!?!
I think the Hostess' are messing with us!
LOL. I just try to scroll past it as fast as I can and pretend it's not actually there.
I'll alert our tech folks that it needs to be updated. :)
Since you're not interested in strassing your own shoes, what are some of the most helpful posts you've run across on WB? A lot of really great resources get lost here on WB, and I'd love to pass along some of the older posts that you could recommend to be featured!
@daydreamwanderer: Rather than notifying the tech people that it needs to be changed, how about notifying them it needs to be removed? Nobody likes it. It is annoying, useless and we have complained about it NUMEROUS times! Sorry but I just feel that if something so meaningless to the function of WB is disliked so much, why keep it?
@daydreamwanderer:I thought it was the hostess pick of the week? I agree with Hedgehog as well. No one really likes it so why keep it at all?
Ladies I don;t think you are getting rid of it. Instead maybe have one person in charge of updating and give those suggestions to that person so that they can pass it on and it can get chagned more frequently?
That's not a decision I can make, unfortunately :)
@Storm0075: It's an admin function; I think with the ownership transition of the overall site, it may have slipped through a crack.
if it's suppose to be "pick of the week" why isn't it updated every week? I'd rather see it go. Can we vote on it?
@daydreamwanderer: Oh I understand that. You had asked for suggestions to pass on. I thought maybe if in future there was a designated person then maybe it could be changed more often and be halpful the way I am sure ti was intended.
@Miss Tattoo: There's a post in the Ideas section to have it removed, but it's not a mod/hostess decision to have it removed or not, it's an admin thing, i.e. the people who own the site. I've brought it to their attention that it needs to be updated and pointed to this thread, so they're officially aware. :)
I think sometimes it's easy to forget that for the people who work for WB, this is a job, with lots of responsibilities and duties, and things don't just happen at the snap of the fingers. In my office (I don't work for WB, I work in philanthropy), it can take days for our IT team to fix something on our website or in our database; actually every office where I've worked has been that way.
i think i have become immune to the shoes.
although i don;t like it being there because i often stop scrolling down past that point.
what i still remember is the "pick of the week" thread about getting rid of back fat by altering your dress. i feel like it was there for MONTHS and that was annoying!
@PurpleUnicorn: Yea I feel like that feature has been there for months, but there have only been like 2 or 3 different threads featured!
@daydreamwanderer: I totally get that the administration has a time consuming job and there are probably a million other more important things that need to work on (I get it, my FI develops software programs for a living.. Some features are top priority, some aren't), but hopefully this thread will show the admin team that it's something we would like changed! :)
Lol, has anyone noticed that the pick of the week is FINALLY different?
Oh it changed!!! I audibly gasped in surprise when I noticed lol
1) Yes, the box surrounding it has gotten bigger!
2) Bring back the shoes if that's going to be what we have to scroll past for the next few months. (Honestly? The zombie picture? You couldn't have used one of the nicer pics from earlier in their shoot and saved the zombie for the people who actually click over to it?)
3) http://ideas.weddingbee.com/topic/get-rid-of-the-featured-blog-of-the-week#post-3910
ugh its even worse!!!! please make it go away!!!!!!!!!!
@TinyTina:I understand that there are more important things to be dealt with first but if you cannot commit to doing something that is supposed to be "weekly" then just remove it and leave time for the other things that need to be handled or give the responsibility to someone else.
I will say I'm a little frustrated with the site changing hands only because I enjoyed the interaction and close personal feeling I got from the Bee family. I would like to know who is going to be the main advocate for the new site owners and here from that person the plans they have in mind for the future of the site. I don't really feel as if WB is very concerned about what their users want to see happening around the site anymore.
@daydreamwanderer: I just want to thank you for alerting the IT team and getting it changed. Hopefully we can see more activity from that part of the board if they are going to keep it.
Well, I *do* like zombies!
I hope it is really weekly now though!
I think ever since this box was put on the forums more posts have popped up about bees feeling ignored because no one scrolls down past the box! Especially when it goes ignored for a month at a time...as soon as my brain sees the strassed shoe, I go right back to the top of the forums!
You guys were definitely heard :) and our new admin team is hoping to keep this updated on a weekly basis!
If you've got a favorite post that you'd like to see featured, feel free to PM me with it - even though it says "Hostess Pick of the Week" we're definitely open to Member Picks too, especially if you've got a thread or post that you think everyone would benefit from!
