I know I'm a little early, but we're asking for RSVPs by the third of November--one month in advance of the wedding.
We'll be sending them out October 8th, I think...possibly the week after but my family knows I get anxious and like to send things out early, so they won't be surprised if they get them around the 10th/11th.
We are ordering them in August
Sending them out in mid to late October
RSVP's are due back by late November to Early December
And then we are sending out our "B-list" invites after getting the first 50 back.
We are then giving our final head count to the venue mid December since the wedding it on the 30th.
(The "B-list" thing sounds bad but it's friends that we were close with in high school and not so much anymore that we want to invite, but budget won't allow, so depending on how many family members say no we can invite more friends. But they are invited to the dance, so I'm not cutting them out compleatly.)
we'll probably be ordering our invitations soon. i still haven't quite figured out how we're addressing them (labels? calligrapher ---- whoa that's expensive). i just figure more time is better.
i plan to send them by end of September with a RSVP date of November 4 (a Friday...so I'll have all weekend long to hound those who haven't gotten back to me yet!)
I will probably send our Invites out at the end of September with a RSVP by the beginning of November. We havnt really sat down to figure out when we needed them back by. I guess If I want to order our invites soon, I should probably work on that.
@blueroses: Oh, how I would love to have a calligrapher address the invites...it's 100% out of our budget, but I can admire the beauty from afar!
I guess my timeline isn't super early after all; maybe I'll bump up our mail date by a week or so to give guests extra time to respond. We're ordering the invites now, so it's not like I won't have them in hand.
I'm going to start DIYing my our invites this week and plan to have them all done by the end of July (we're both in grad school, so we'll have no time to work on projects come September). I plan on getting them in the mail around October 8 (8 weeks out) and the RSVP date will be November 12 (3 weeks).
I have a meeting with the caterer on Monday, so hopefully he'll let us know when we need final numbers in November and I'll probably add a little time to our RSVP deadline to account for stragglers or missing RSVPs. We're printing our own invites so I'm going to do them this summer and bring them to my mom who will be doing the calligraphy. I think we'll send them out about 8 weeks in advance, so probably at the beginning of October.
I have to have final counts 30 days before so I am sending out invites late september and RSVP's due Nov 1st. That will give me a week to hunt people down who didn't reply.
I ordered them this week.
We didn't do STD's, just spread the word, so we are hoping to send them out a little bit early, like mid-September. The RSVP date is December 2nd. Again, a little early, but it gives us the opportunity to hunt people down at a very busy time of year.
We still haven't even sent save the dates, because we just booked our venue this week. We'll send save the dates as soon as we finalize the guest list, and then send invites in mid-october, and have them due Nov. 3rd, a month before the wedding.
I'm getting married December 17. Etiquette says 8 weeks prior which is October 22 is when I should send out invites, but we're going to do it earlier -- like towards the beginning of October. Simply because it is the week before Christmas and we have a lot of OOT guests. RSVPs will be Nov 17, a month before the wedding!
I wanted to have our invites addressed too and it was way to expensive. I went on line to several wedding sites and found that although a label is very much a no no that doing the envelopes themselves on the computer is now considered appropriate. I used Wilton.com to address my envelopes, I used a an edwardian font and they turned out beautiful. Zero cost to me and so much prettier than my own handwriting.
December 17th is our wedding day. We already have our invitations printed out so all we have to do is calligraphy on the envelopes for the invites. We are sending out i believe October 20th and RSVP by November 17th should be enough time to get things into the venue for seating charts.
We just got our Invitations the other day in the mail. I opened the box and almost cried because I loved them so much. Our wedding date is 12/3 and we set and RSVP date of November 12th. That way I have 2 weeks before our final numbers are due to track down those who are to lazy to walk to the mailbox with the prestamped RSVP Card... I really hope its not that many
Ordered our invitations forever ago. Our wedding is Dec. 9th. Rsvp date is November 18th and plan on mailing them out 8 weeks (maybe 9) ahead of time. If I had known when I ordered them that our final meeting with the hall was going to be November 22nd I definetly would have pushed the rsvp date back a week. My mom already knows shes gonna be in charge of phonecalls that weekend for the stragglers!! People better be on their A-game with sending their replys!
I was thinking October 16th to have them OUT by.
RSVPs due by November 15th?
lol I'm just being a dork...Oct. 16th is FI's birthday and Nov. 15th is MY birthday! :D
How are everyone's invitations coming along? Our letterpress pieces arrived in the mail and I almost cried, they're so perfect. I'm working on lining the envelopes, addressing the RSVP envelopes and outer envelopes, and bundling the interior pieces together with a little twine to get them ready to send out (hoping for the last week in September as our ship date, but we'll see--envelope lining is time consuming).
I'd love to see how everyone else's are shaping up! I'll try to post pictures of my own sometimes this week :-)
@BunnyBrideToBe: I am having a December Boston wedding to! Are you having your in the city? Or in a suburb? Mine is New Year's Eve, I can't wait! Hopefully no 'noreaster' snow storms for either of us!
@sheilad72: Ours is in the suburbs, in Northborough, at an old mansion...so I actually hope I get a dusting of snow, but I think we're too early in the season. I feel like it usually starts juuuuuust near Christmas, and my wedding is 12/3. But yes, I hope no big snowstorms for you, either!
NYE wedding. Sending out invites beginning of Oct. RSVP by Dec 3rd.
This thread just made me feel so much better. My invitations came in the mail today (and my dress came in, too!!! woo hoo - things are getting done!!).
They will be pretty simple to assemble - just a basic invite with 2 inserts and the RSVP card/envelope. I did a lot already, but labels are the worst. If I can get these babies out by Monday, I will be SO happy.
I am hoping to get mine out by the second week of October! I should get on stamping the envelopes... and addressing them. Luckily there is almost no real "assembly" to my invites themself.
I feel so silly. I got mine all assebled, and addressed and then stamped and then they just sat there in this little bag to keep them clean. Everyday I pulled them out of the bag and looked at them. Then I couldn't stand it anymore and I mailed them two weeks early. I feel so foolish but I just couldn't wait. I have already gotten two responses back. I held them up in the air and danced like an idiot, the FI came in and asked if I had won the lottery. I said " No, four people are coming to our wedding!!!!" As he walked out of the room he said in a rather sacastic voice - "Don't be jealous boys, she's all mine."
Yes, you are right it takes very little to make me happy.
I am actually going to the post office tomorrow morning to mail ours out. I am so excited. FI and I worked so hard on putting them together.
My mom just finished the calligraphy and they should be stamped and ready to go...just waiting for the return address labels we ordered! I think she's going to send them out next weekend. It makes it feel so real! I can't wait to start getting RSVPs back.
Too funny ... I came home from work last night about 1/2 hour earlier than expected. Guess who was standing there looking at our responses. He just looked at me and said " I'm marrying you" . I am finally seeing him getting excited. Up until now it felt more like MY day than OUR day. But I think he is getting into it now.
Just went to the post office and dropped off our Invitations, I cant wait until we start to get them back!
Mine are in my car and about to be dropped off at the post office. SOOO excited!
@yellowshoe: Yay!! I was having anxiety because it was starting to rain when I was pulling into the post office. I took off my sweater and put it over top of my invites so they wouldnt get wet. The looks that I got for doing this.
My friend is having a Dec 17 2011 wedding, and she sent the invite at the end of August with an RSVP date of Nov 1!
I already sent my yes RSVP back since I can tell she is so anxious :)
@Garnety: you just gave me a mini panic attack!! lol
If it were up to me I would've sent them after Labor Day....buuuut I had a friendor "help" us with the invitations (there's a rant/vent of that floating around some where on these baords...) so let's just say I'm thrilled to have them in the mail today. I can't wait to start getting the RSVPs back! :D
@RSgrl1215: OMG I had a nightmare last night that it rained and I got all the invites wet!!! This is too funny. I should go hire an armed brinks truck to help me transport these invites safely to the post office
@yellowshoe: That is too funny!! There were precious cargo and nothing was going to mess up all my hard work.
Getting married on December 10, with a response deadline of November 19 (3 weeks). In regards to sending them out? My fiance wants them OUT THE DOOR, he is sick of looking at them. lol We have been working on the invitations pretty much since we got engaged and now that they are done, he wants to make sure they go out before there might be a fire. haha. But I think I'll be mailing them on October 1, that gives people 7 weeks to reply.
men... :)
Congrats on sending them out @RSgrl1215! Must feel so great!
As for me, I have pretty much finished printing enough main invitations for everyone. Made all my "Pocket Panels" (50); only a few more personalized RSVPs left to do (just verifying some names/couplings).
Still need to finalize our "Directions" and map card. Going to hopefully get some wording help from some coordinators from the venue tomorrow at our tasting. Or at least take notes on the drive there. Still need to do a few accomodation cards for our few OOTs. What do you really provide on this? Our wedding isn't large enough to need to block out rooms or anything, so do I just suggest like 3 local nice hotels and their information or any perks relating to our venue they might provide? I just dont know what people expect...havent they heard of Google, Priceline, Expedia...lol. Ok I'm being a brat. And last but not least, printing envelopes both RSVP and Outter. My goal is to get them out sooner than my anticipated Mid-October goal since MIL is supposedly getting questions and concerns!
Hope your ladies Invitation Adventures are going well and your having fun!
Ours went out yesterday! I got to hand cancel them all myself, which I found very satisfying. The postal workers thought I was hilarious since FI photographed us handing over the box of invites, but they were really nice. And now they're off!
The plan is to send them out by 10/24 at the latest with an RSVP date of 11/30.
