i know i'm early but i'm excited, and i thought maybe if i kept passing this page by because no one had posted maybe other people were doing it to?

as of today i'm not officially engaged because my bf doesn't believe in long engagements (he says it's just dating with a ring), but we've planned for a dec 30/2011 wedding.

i'm so excited. we're planning on having a candlelight ceremony at my homechurch (who has their candlelight service the sunday before so no decorations for me), and the reception at the ranch where he's worked for about 6 years now (no rental cost, and cheap catering).

is anyone else having a december wedding? if so what's your theme? how would you say people have reacted? my mom wasn't too impressed because she says everyone spends all their money at christmas, but we're not in it for the presents haha (okay, maybe i am :P)

I'm brand new to posting (but not to board stalking...*blush*), but we're pretty sure we've set a date now, 12/03/11.  We are SO excited!

Our parents (both sets) are happy for us, although I think worrying about the money piece...  We don't have a theme, per se, but are going for elegant white; we're looking at having the wedding ceremony and reception both at a manor house in the area.  Your candlelight ceremony sounds beautiful!

We got engaged over the summer (family drama involved there a little bit--we both have elderly grandparents and wanted very much for them to share this moment with us; my grandmother passed only just over a month later so I was really happy we made this choice) and it's exciting to have a date for the people who keep asking "so...when?!".

elegant white is perfect for a winter wedding cause it's classic, simple, and doesn't overdue the whole festive thing :P

and don't worry - we all board stalk :P that's what i first did but then i wanted to comment on things so bad i had to join :P

Dec. 24, 2011!!!  My parents said the same thing, bad time for a wedding, especially in Puerto Rico, where we have tons of family, and they get together for xmas eve blah blah blah.  But i'm happy with it.  we're having the ceremony on the beach, and the 6 hour long reception will be a kick ass traditional puerto rican xmas party!  with live music, and 200 guests,, tons of food, it'll be so much fun.  I do want men in guayaberas, which is a type of shirt older hispanic gentlemen wear, and everyone is to be in white and or beige.  very light, very clean, very fresh.  on a warm puerto rican night, that sounds perfect to me!!!

Congrats to my other Dec. 2011 brides!

We set our date of December 2, 2011 and are really excited.  Our colors are ice blue, silver and white with snowflake/icy accents. Im a planner type person so the venue is booked, video, photographer, harpist and DJ as well as our honeymoon to Antigua.  I know its early but we knew what we wanted so I rather get things out of the way and put deposits down so it gives us enough time to save and not be as stressed.  I found booking ahead of time too and being off season here in New England we were able to get some great deals.

@beckiesue: whoops! I didn't see this post until today...but with a board this slow maybe 3 days isn't too bad :-)  So far I'm thinking primarily ivory for my color--I've waffled back & forth on maybe touches of silver and/or red, but I think it'll pretty much be ivory on ivory for everything.  We're really trying for that snowy, elegant, cozy, classic winter wedding feel.  I grew up in New England and have always wanted a winter wedding, so I hope it works out!  Have you chosen yet?

Bunny Im also in MA on the south shore where are you getting married? We are doing the winter wonderland theme of ice blue, silver, white with snowflake accents.  I thought it was great colors for new england but staying away from the xmas feel.

@kjanet2001: Sounds beautiful!  We're getting married at the Wesson Estate in Northborough, MA--suburbs of Boston :-)  Have you picked your venue yet?  We're not doing a church, so ceremony & reception are both at the same place, separated by a cocktail hour in the drawing rooms and library downstairs (our ballroom is upstairs).

I love the sound of snowflake accents...I've been thinking about putting something snowflakey/glittery on the Save the Dates since we're planning on sending those around Christmastime this year.  I am also leery of the Christmas feel. Not that I don't love Christmas (I do!) but I want my wedding to be a wedding, not a Christmas party!  We are big on Christmas in my family and FI's fam is even bigger, so I really have to pay attention to keep the wedding separate!

We are getting married at the Villa in East Bridgewater MA.  The ceremony is also at the same site in front of a fireplace then moving to the ballroom and cocktail area.

I 100% agree with you in regards to xmas, I feel the same way and love the holidays as well. Everyone loves our color choices and ideas.  We are doing a hot chocolate to go station as people leave as a nice winter touch ;-)  Good luck with the planning

@kjanet2001: I LOVE the hot chocolate idea! That is perfect!

@BunnyBrideToBe: I haven't chosen yet... but I am going for that same feel that you are. I'm playing with the idea of using a super dark red. I love that color, but I'm also liking the frosty blue, white, and silver idea... decisions decisions!

@ceamoste: Hi there!  We just set our date for December 30, 2011 as well.  We tried for NYE but the venue screwed up majorly and double-booked the date.  Talk about a disappointment!  I was heartbroken for about 24 hours, then I reasoned - hold on - most people have the ability to take the Friday before New Year's off.  It's not a catastrophe!  My own parents were married on December 29 so they were totally on board.  I think it pleased them.  This way my fiance and I will always have our anniversary separate from New Year's and that's kind of romantic.  I literally just got engaged last weekend so we've just started planning.  I'm thinking platinum and cranberry or possibly eggplant or midnight blue to match my saphire and diamond ring.  Thoughts?

We're getting married 12/31/2011.  Very intimate wedding.  We do not have a venue, but it's in works.  I initially wanted to get married in San Fran, but after venue hunting quickly realized we waited too late and the venues I like were out of our budget.  My colors are blush, royal blue, platinum and hints of Tiffany blue.  That could totally change.  LOL!!

Just set the date for 12/9/11!!  My family is a little concerned about the weather - but the venue and the price was right.

Probably doing a navy blue, black and white color scheme.

    Hi everyone!

I'm getting married Dec 31 - NYE.  Any other NYE brides out there, when are you planning on sending Save The Date's?  I know it's typically around 6 months out but I'm might send mine earlier than that. Just wanted other thoughts.  Besides that, I only have the venue (hotel, all inclusive for food & bev) and a DJ booked.  Working on photographer but it's hard to decde and price-compare them all.  I figure florists do more than 1 wedding all the time so even given the holiday, I'll find one.

Would love to hear from other NYE brides! Happy planning!

@SarahJ823:  I'm an NYE bride too.  We're planning to send STDs at about the 8 month mark because of the holiday and because 100% of our guests are from out of town.  (That is, if I can get them done by then!) Really though, I think you can send them whenever works best for you!

We've booked all of our major vendors, but we have already been engaged for almost 14 months so I had a head start!

@AlmostMrs.APP: A date twin AND in my area. Awesome!

Not sure of all the vendors at this point. We are looking at the Mendenhall Inn for a venue. Barefoot Studios will be our photography.

Have you picked a venue yet? What are your colors?  I was really sure of navy blue and black two weeks ago but now I'm not so sure.

Anyone in your family irked about a Friday wedding in December?  We have a few of those. :-P

@blueroses: I know small weddingbee world right??!!....We have most of our vendors booked (im a crazy planner so i wanted it done asap lol)...St. Robert Bellarmine Church-ceremony, Northampton Valley CC -reception, Ryan Estes -photographer, Video One Productions -videographer, Silver Sounds - DJ, Otto Shmidts -florist...im still working on limos and gonna wait a little to dress shop cuz i'm trying to shed some lbs beforehand and the cake comes with our package so I don't have to worry about that for a while.

The date took some convincing to get my fiance and parents on board. I always dreamed I'd have a holiday-esque winter wedding but didn't want it too close to christmas so I thought the 9th was close enough without being too close. And the weather being an issue has come up especially considering this insane snow we've been having but I said the weather can be an issue no matter what time of year the wedding is. (I actually wouldn't be bothered by a little snow for sweet pictures) And people will get there regardless. And so far I havent heard any grief for it being a Friday but honestly i wouldn't care if i did cuz i've gotten awesome discounts on almost all my vendors bc of it.

My colors are red, cream/white and gold....im definelty bringing in some of the holiday elements but I'm gonna try and keep it elegant and traditional and not so "tacky christmas". I'm lucky cuz my hall does two huge christmas trees for that time of year in my colors, one in the entryhall and one in the cocktail room so I'm using that to my advantage. : )

    @AlmostMrs.APP:

All sounds very cool!  I am a crazy planner, too, just managing a lot between a new job/grad school and we only got engaged last month.

We are all confirmed on the Mendenhall Inn - which also does a huge Christmas tree in ballroom where the reception will be held.  We also booked the DJ - Moore Music DJs.  :)

And - my dress is bought!  It's Blue by Enzoani - Dijon.
Next up is flowers and limo.  That'll have to happen after Pres. Day weekend because we are heading to Mexico for a destination wedding!!

I think I'm leaning toward burgundy and white for colors...but navy is still an option.  Going shopping with my bridesmaids next weekend so I'll have to choose soon!! You'll have to keep me posted on your planning since we're date twins!

@bamababy: Wow, long engagement! Nice! We got engaged 12/30/10 so we'll get married almost a year to the day which I'm really excited about. I'm thinking STD's around 8 months as well. I'd love to hear what colors or ideas you have for NYE theme.  I can't decide if I want to go all whites/sivers, or incorporate some sort of icy blue. Do you have bridesmaids colors? I also think that really dark jewel tones would look good for dresses and bridal flowers.  But in the reception hall, I'm pretty sure I want white white white, lots of lights.

@bamababy: Ha! We have a suuuuuuper long engagement, too (longer than yours, actually) and I am so glad it's getting closer now! I feel like I can actually book vendors, start with crafts, etc.

We had a move pending, so I didn't want to pile up too much "stuff" and have to move it all, so things are finally starting to come along...just as schoolwork picks up, oh well!

We got engaged August 2009, so we'll have been engaged something like 2.5 years by the time December rolls around. Yikes.

I'm also getting married on New Years Eve!  Very exciting! We are having the wedding near our hometown, so we have been flying in and doing lots of planning via/phone email, which has been hard.  So far, reception venue, cake, florist, and photographer are booked for sure!  Flying in next month to meet with more caterers. Not sure if we are doing save the dates.. we may just send an earlier invite.  Our guest list is about 280, but everyone is aware of our wedding date at this point.  Happy planning to everyone!!!

I too am a December Bride, our wedding is booked for December the 3rd 2011.

We are from Australia but im from a Greek (orthodox) background and my fiance is from a Lebanese (Muslim) background so we are having a mixed wedding of both cultures.

We got engaged on New years eve making our engagement date the 11/11/11 and will be officially legally married on the 11/11/11 but that will be only on paper as our actual wedding will be on December the 3rd as we couldnt get the Chapel we wanted and the reception for the same date.

We been together for 4 years and goit sick of waiting for his family to approve so we just got engaged and set our date and are going ahead with what makes us happy. Cant wait till the day finaly comes.

As we are in Australia December here is summer and we have booked our honeymoon to go to Greece which unfortunately will be winter then, and although i have been there myself for both winter and summer and luved it im just hoping my fiance will appreciate Greece in winter, hopefully ill be able to show him the  culture of Greece and he wont be too cold.

Wish me luck, i still have battles with his family ahead of me.

@princesspeacock: we share the same wedding date and we're both in Philly as well!

@AlmostMrs.APP: I'm getting married on 12/16/11 and I have the same problems with my family, they all ended up saying whatever makes you happy, but now I'm starting to get concerned about the snow after hearing all these complaints. Most of my dad's family is from VA, some of them in TX, so they are all traveling to come to Philly for the wedding and have complained that if there is a snowstorm, it would delay or cancel their flights and create problems...I've moved to Philly only 2 years ago, does anyone know what the typical winter weather is around that time of the year??? I've already booked my venue, caterer, DJ, photographer and videographer...

@phillybrideVT: I, too am a December bride from Philly. As far as weather goes, it is extremely rare that we get snow before Christmas. And because two years ago we ended up with a blizzard the weekend before Christmas, and this year we had a major storm the day after Christmas, I like to think that we've had our share!!

The temps typically don't dip low enough during December - I looked it up and the average temp is 44...

My family was worried a bit until they came to the conclusion that bad weather could really happen any time during the year!

I am also a december 2nd bride! My bridesmaids will be in red, I will be in silver and my tables will be black and silver satin with red rose centerpieces. I'm so excited. I wanted a red rose theme. but I'm throwing in some christmasy effects too, because I just can't decide what I want more. I'm so exctied, but I feel like I'm behind in planning. So many people on here have been planning for a year, and I've only been planning for a couple months.
