It's not for a honeymoon, but for Christmas, we're either doing a Caribbean cruise or renting a house in the BVIs. The weather is supposed to be great! I would really like to go sailing in the BVIs, but I can't figure out how to get Santa on the boat for my 5 year old. :)
Hey!
My fiance and I have been trying to decide the same thing. We really want to do a European honeymoon, but we don't like the cold. So we decided to do a small honeymoon after the wedding in San Diego (Staying downtown in the Hyatt in their nicest room) and explore fun stuff there and then go to Europe this summer as sort of a second honeymoon.
I'm going on a post wedding vacation. WE're thinking a cruise to the caribbean. It's tough to find something WARM in December. Someone told me Florida is nice, too. We just want the all inclusive though, and my parents just love cruises. So does Chantellamus, lol.
Im not a December bride but highly suggest Punta Cana, thats where our honeymoon was just a few weeks ago. Amazing, gorgeous resort (Excellence Resorts). ALL INCLUSIVE (including alcohol and food). If you stay longer than 7 nights you get the honeymoon package where you get a gorgeous private dinner on the beach, an hour couples massage and mroe. Very affordable, try cheapcaribbean.com
We are going to Savannah, GA. We're from the South and we can drive to Savannah and it's very affordable! Plus Savannah is beautiful during Christmastime. We were wanting to go to London, but it's too cold in December so we are going to try and go next summer.
Ooo Savannah is gorgeous. I used to live there. BTW, if you go to Punta cana, they will tell you you can brush your teeth with the water. DON'T DO IT!. Also, be careful, the omelet stations tend to cook so fast your eggs are a little runny. EVERY couple we met on the trip (from various resorts) commented they had some sort of stomach ailment. DH was sick the last 3 days, but thankfully only stomach cramps, not some of the other more extreme issues like some other people.
SO be careful what you eat/drink/put in your mouth no matter what. Everything LOOKED fine. He ate eggs and I didn't, so i think that was a major difference for us. The food is only ok in punta cana. Not bad, but not 5 star either.
We are going to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. It is the high season there, so the weather will be good. It's gorgeous and inexpensive. However, for your dates, the rates might be higher b/c that is during the holiday season. Each hotel night was $100/night more expensive during the holidays. Good luck!
We're cruising to the Eastern Carribean on Holland America about two days after the wedding. This solves the problem of who we'll spend our first christmas with.
Jamaica and the Cayman Islands (grand and little cayman)
I CAN"T WAIT!
Key West (Cayman and Bermuda were tied for 1st place until we found a good deal on Key West; I would have done Ixtapa if he was OK with Mexico)
We're doing San Francisco and Sonoma (the week of December 6). We have great rates at some fabulous hotels (Fairmont San Francisco and Fairmont Mission Inn and Spa in Sonoma) since it's off season for them. I'm most excited about our 8th row seats to the San Francisco Ballet's Nutcracker on December 12th!
Wedding and honeymoon in Ochos Rios, Jamaica. I can't wait!!
we're going Driving to states and cities close to ours so we can be back in time for Christmas... I just hope the weather will work with us and not leave us stranded here, or anywhere else for that matter.
Excellence in Punta Cana IS beautiful.
There are great deals on Cancun vacations right now! FI and I are just going for a plain old vacation (not honeymoon!) to Playa del Carmen - about 45 mins. out of Cancun. check it out! try tripadvisor.com if you haven't already - great reviews of hotels, points of interest, etc!
Good luck and have fun!!!
I'm a Dec 19 bride. My fiance's parents both grew up in Los Angeles but now live in San Jose. He has NEVER spent a Christmas at his own home, so we're doing a few nights at a nice B&B in our area and then 1 night at an inn. Then we'll go home a few days before Christmas and have our first married holiday. It's pretty low key, but we felt like it would be a good start to our married life. We have a few weekend trips planned over the next several months too. Hope this helps!
I'm a NOV bride, but going on a honeymoon 20 days later, which will be 12/12-12/19!! We're going on a Western Caribbean cruise =D
