I can’t believe we’re down to four months either!! We’ve been engaged for a year and now it’s starting to really feel like it’s actually going to be here soon!

I just booked my florist which means that except for the photobooth, all our vendors are booked! Wohooo! I still have a list of a million things to do, but it still feels like a planning accomplishment.

Top of the list–get serious about working out ’cause I need to lose 10-15 pounds! I always feel like “I have no time,” but if I have time for wedding blogs, I have time to workout! Dress fitting at the end of the month.

Welcome bags.

Package favors.

Paper goods. Print invitations. Order envelope liners. Escort cards/place settings. Itineraries. Programs. “Welcome to Houston” pamphlets for our welcome bags.

Chalkboard menu/drink menu-finalize signature cocktail and bar!

Veil. Undergarments. Jewelry. Flats for reception, possibly. Getaway dress?

Cute rehearsal dinner dress and bachelorette party dress!

Shop for honeymoon attire!

Find robes for bridesmaids, gifts for wedding party and family.

Photobooth.

Buy his ring. Engrave our rings.

Finalize music selections for DJ.

Settle on first dance and choreograph/practice.

Wedding perfume.

Dress fitting and alterations.

It’s frustrating because if I wasn’t a poor graduate student, I could buy a lot of this stuff and be done with the majority of this list! I just had my bridal shower and it was so lovely. We are going to have a 20’s bachelorette party around Halloween which I’m really excited about! Need to find a cute flapper dress.

I’m feeling a little less stressed about the wedding and just so excited to start my new life with my love! He just moved intot he apartment that will be our first home together and I love the feeling of putting our new home together. Can’t wait for December!!

@vanessa7:  I totally feel your pain. We have all of our major vendors booked, with the exception of transportation (although it’s decided), but no money to do the rest of the “little things.” Thankfully I’m finishing up my MA in 2 weeks, and then possibly starting a great internship, so I’ll have more time and moolah to do all the fun stuff!

Can’t believe we only have 4 months!!!  It seems like there’s still so much to do. I’m an out of town bride, so last week I went to Chicago and did this:

Monday – bought dress

Tuesday – booked ceremony musicians

Wednesday – booked photographer

Thursday – tasting (most incredible food ever AND I saw Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis — bonus!)

Friday – booked flowers

What are the little things you don’t want to forget?  Yesterday I figured out the card box, but other little things (not that I don’t have enough big things to worry about) are chair signs, getaway car sign, that sort of thing.

@MissVisuality:  That’s so awesome! I’m very jealous! I hpoe you get the internships and enjoy the rest of the planning!

@aekc:  So much accomplished! Wow, that’s crazy that you saw Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.

The little things: lovely hanger for my dress, calligraphy tags and hangers for my bridesmaids’ dresses, car getaway sign, chair signs, fancy champagne flutes and cake cutting set….probably a lot more!

Oh the flutes! I would be so thrilled to have some champagne coupes, and pretend to be an aristocrat in the 20s, but FI doesn’t like them. Gah! Looking for simple, elegant flutes has been interesting…

I’m feeling behind now, but I’ve felt ahead for the whole process until a few weeks ago when it hit me that I need to sort everything else out in 4.5 months…

Still need to do: finalise invitations, book transportation, decide on cake flavour, finalise flowers, marriage preparation, finalise music choices, make programs/seating chart/place cards, card box, cake cutting set, FLUTES, fittings, bridal party gifts, hair/makeup trials, make veil, find undergarments, make garter, finish centrepieces, register, pick readings/readers, get guestbook, get head table champagne, make favours…

Oh dear, I’ve put myself into a panic now…

@MissVisuality:  You don’t sound behind at all!  Honestly, there’s a lot of things I hope to have accomplished by the end of August, and then I’ll feel much better.  Meanwhile, FI with his “to do” list: “I’ll get it done, I just work on a different schedule than you do!”  Uh oh…;-)

@MissVisuality: I love the coupe idea too! I love the pink ones at BHLDN, but they’ve gotten bad reviews as far as being able to drink from them without spilling, which is lame.

At the beginning of the summer, I felt like we had plenty of time and now the summer’s gone by so fast, it’s a little worrisome!

@aekc:  Hahahaha, your fiance’s list!

@aekc:  Thanks for making me feel better! Ha ha, I wish I could give mine a list, but most of the planning has been on me, since he’s a foreigner and doesn’t know where or how to look for things to do. He is very supportive, and isn’t afraid to give opinions, though, which has been helpful. He’ll be getting a lot more “hands-on” very soon however…

@vanessa7:  I knowwww. I love the Kate Spade “mr” and “mrs” coupes, but they’re fairly expensive, and FI has totally nixed the idea of coupes. They’re “stupid” and “make the champagne go flat.” I know he’s right really, but coupes just have a certain je ne sais quoi… sigh

@MissVisuality:  Haha, totally agree! I haven’t talked to my fiance about it, but it’s probably on the list of ‘wedding stuff’ he doesn’t really understand (e.g. card boxes, Mrs. & Mrs. signs) so I may not ask for his opinion. He’d probably just protest and say that we can use the champagne glasses from the bar. lol.

@MissVisuality:  Ok, so last night FI and I had “the talk” — the one where I say “we need to create a schedule of wedding do/due dates and he’s all, “yay! music, photography, food, we’re finished!” And I’m all, “tips, flights, emcee cues, readings, attendant gifts, table numbers…” And he’s all, “great, I’m super supportive of all this!!” And cue his energy waning, waning, waning . . . aww.  But the calendar is great!!  We’ve set it up via outlook so that we can both keep up, make edits, etc.  This is seriously going to cut down on stress.  🙂

@aekc:  LOL! My fiance and I definitely had that talk, not fun at all. We have a Google Docs list and I’ve been making a monthly to-do list, but I need to stick to it better!

@Penelopeee:  Oh those are lovely! Thanks so much for the tip. I’ve been looking for something in that shape, without being totally plain, too bulky, or with a lot of extra bling. Don’t get me started on the engraved clip-art hearts! 😛

@aekc:  Well done you! I’m been giving mine a bit of a break since we’re leaving the country next week, and have had a bunch of non-wedding-related things to sort out. Once we’re back, though, the lists will be coming out full force. I have everything stored in my head about what we still need to do, which vendors we need to meet with, and when, but all of that information is about to be fired at him. Calendaring and to-dos will become a way of life for the next 4 months, ha ha! Poor boy…
