Yes! I am getting married Dec 5 09 too:) I'm incredibly corny and am obsessed with Christmas, so yes we will be having a Christmas theme. I haven't decided definitely on my dresses yet, but I think a dark green/emerald green, with gold accents. What about you?
ME TOO!! We are either having a private ceremony in town or on a beach in the carribean BUT we are having the reception on 12 5 09!!
I am doing a Christmas theme but I am sticking to traditional 'wedding' colors. White - cream - gold - silver - NO RED NO GREEN
I will have a Christmas tree in the reception room at the hotel decorated with white lights and white and gold ornaments. The flowers will be all white and I plan to have a lot of candles.
I am giving my guests Christmas stocking delivered to their hotel rooms instead of a gift bag/basket. There are white felt with silver sparkles. I purchases these this year at the dollar tree. I am going to fill it with 2 gingerbread people (bride and groom) , cider, water bottle, chex mix, etc.
have you guys picked out your dresses?
I love that stocking idea!!! I may have to steal that idea. Its so cute.
I haven't picked out my dress yet...But I know I want it to have a lot of lace! I think my colors are going to be black & white with a touch of gold or silver (depends what my dress looks like). I may add a splash of color in there. I was thinking dark red or teal. However, we haven't booked our reception site yet...so the colors could change. The place that is number 1 in the running has a light blue and brown carpet...so I doubt I could do black & white. It would probably look strange!!! I'm hoping I find a place that would look great the black & white.
Is anyone wearing the fur shaws? when I first got engaged I thought about doing it. But I think it will clash with me getting lace gown...or having a lace bolero
i'm getting married december 18. exactly one week before christmas, but no christmas theme. i'm definitely a christmas junkie, but i have a different vision for my wedding.
I am getting married on December 5th, 2009 as well! I love Christmas so I am doing a Christmas theme. We picked out black bridesmaid dresses, strapless and floor length, with a wine sash. The wine is a deep red. The wedding will be in Connecticut so they will not be sitting in the sun in black. I think my colors in the reception hall will be gold and deep red. I went to the reception place this past December and they decorated with more gold than silver. Even though, I am more of a silver girl, I don't want to clash with their decorations. ALSO - I love the stocking idea! :) I already bought Christmas / winter gift bags for the hotel. What do you think about little Christmas stocking being the place cards, and then the favors can be something edible inside? So I would write the guest name and table number on the stocking. I have also seen ornament favors with place cards in the top wire. It was very cute!
My cousin is getting married on 12.5.09 -- and I'm one of her bridesmaids -- I am so excited to help her out while we plan our weddings together. I don't think she is doing a Christmas theme but it looks like you guys all have wonderful ideas! Have fun planning!
janieleigh--I'm also getting married on the 18th! How far along are you in your planning?
Hi! I got married on December 6, 2008. We did a winterwonderland/Christmas wedding. It came out really nice. My bridesmaids wore cherry red gowns and carried gorgeous bouquets of different red roses with holly and greens. They also all wore faux fur white jackets. I bought the material for the jackets and had my seamstress make them for the girls. They all loved them! All of my other flowers were white with silver accents. My centerpieces were all white flowers with silver branches coming out the top and ice and Christmas ornaments mixed in. They were in big vases that were either clear, filled with "ice" or white christmas balls. I named each table after a Christmas carol or Christmas themed word. My place card holders were sparkly white Christmas balls with snowflakes on them. We had a snowflake ice sculpture as well. The cake was all white with gorgeous white roses all over the cake. For favors, my husband and I made Christmas CD's that we put in gorgeous white velvet bags. (I found them online for a good price.) I wore a full ballgown with cathedral train and a faux fur white jacket. We had a signature peppermint drink at the reception and a hot chocolate bar and hot espresso bar with dessert. We also had chocolate liquors and chocolate shotglasses. It snowed on the day of our wedding which added extra romance! Let me know if you want to see pictures for ideas. Good luck!
@areemess: i'm actually getting married on the 19th now due to a conflict with the venue. i'm not too far in the planning though, unfortunately. the date has changed like 10 times so its hard to nail anything down. i have the church definitely and reception venue tentatively. i have my dress and colors picked out, but that's where it ends. what about you? how far along are you?
janieleigh--I don't think I realized that you're also in VA! Which venue did you choose for your reception? I have the ceremony and reception location (same place), photographer and I just got my dress on Monday. I am trying to get my bridesmaids' dresses knocked out next... I want to do a really dark purple.
i live in southeastern virginia, chesapeake to be exact. my first venue was the hermitage in norfolk, which is beautiful, but my wedding moved from may to december so it no longer worked. then we decided on the granby theater, but now i think we're definitely decided on the town point club. it's a members only club in the world trade center. where are you in virginia? where are you getting married? also, i LOVE purple. i'm sort of obsessed with it right now.
Hi! We're getting married on December 5,2009 as well! It has been such fun to read all of your ideas! We aren't doing a Christmas theme but definately incorporating christmas elements. My fiance proposed around Christmas because he knows how much I love the season! I got a lot of stuff on sale after last christmas so we are putting up fake christmas trees and lots of candles. The colors will be purple and green...Our wedding will be in NY.
Hello fellow December brides-to-be!
I am getting married on December 19th. I am not doing anything Christmas related. I think it takes too much work to pull off a classy Christmas wedding without it coming off as a cheesy affair. Plus, I will be getting married in TX - definitely not your typical winter wonderland! Some of you seem to have some great ideas though! Good luck!
I am going for a formal black and white look with a few dark pink accents. I will also be incorporating some damask items as well (table squares, save the dates, invites, guest book, etc). I've found some really great damask items if anyone is interested, I'd love to share.
P.S. we also got enaged just before Christmas at the national Christmas tree display in front of the White House. He proposed in front of the TX tree, of course!
Happy Planning!
We are also getting married on December 5, 2009. Christmas is by far our favorite season, so it was only fitting that we go with that as our theme.
We have chosen to use rich shades of red and gold throughout the reception venue. Instead of a gift table, we are going to have a small fence around one of the large decorated trees for gifts. I also found my table centerpieces before Christmas last year, along with the decorations for all of the trees.
I am pretty close to having everything ready. I can't wait to see it all come together on the BIG DAY!
janieleigh--I'm in norrthern VA and we're getting married at Belmont Country Club in Ashburn. We're not going to do a Christmas theme but I'm really excited that the club will be decorated for Christmas. Are you doing the dark purple, too?
I just wanted to check in with the other December 5 brides...anyone else feeling like they are soo far behind. I have all the big stuff arranged but I am feeling like the little details like decorating, gifts, etc are really piling up. Everyday it seems that I discover something else that I am supposed to do.
How are the rest of you coming along?
i am SOO behind! We haven't officially booked the photographer yet! Although it is reserved for us. Its a new photographer, so she isn't extremely busy. We have been playing phone tag forever...
That is it though! No invitations yet, no rings, no SHOES, no veil, no limo! NO suits for the boys. I haven't decided what type of shoes my BM are wearing. At first they were going to wear all colored shoes (with black BM dresses). But I have changed my mind and want to give them a more classy/romantic look vs. fun/chic look.
I am a MESS! I hope it all will all come together soon! I am ordering my veil this weekend.
We're getting married on the 19th, and we're doing a subtle christmas theme - the bridesmaids are in navy blue, but the flowers are red and white (lots of pointsettias) and the favors are christmas ornaments.
We're getting married in a restaurant in NC so we're just throwing up a couple of trees for decorations and taking it from there. LOVE the stocking idea for the OOT bags!!!
So how is everyone doing?
I am starting to freak out a little. I have the major things: church, reception venue, caterer, photographer, pastor, and DOC. But I have a lot of little details left to tend to...decorations, florist, BM dresses (why can't they just go buy LBD already???), gifts, hair and makeup appts, transportation, OOT bags, music....AAAHHH its too much!!
Please tell me I'm not the only one thats behind
You aren't Derbybride! ( and BTW, I'm loving that we're both in KY getting married in NC) You've got all the major things together, and the bridesmaid dresses well, that's not always something you can control.
Is someone helping you organize things in NC?
I ended up hiring a wedding planner since I didn't want to rely totally on my FMIL. We're only JUST NOW looking at table ideas and decorations for the restaurant where we're getting married. I only just ordered the snowflake ornaments to decorate for favors (and we'll see how this goes, with my lack of craft skills). I haven't decided on BP gifts either, and I've even lost a bridesmaid due to work so I'm trying to figure out how to get folks down the aisle.
Plus I have decided to do my own bouquets for the bridal party and we're trying to figure out where to stay, and what to reserve for folks... Yeah, there's still a lot to do, even with help!
O.K. ladies! One month to the big day! How is everyone coming with the details?
Things are starting to come together for us. We have to put the programs together, and finalize some of the nitty gritty details, like head count and the play list. Otherwise it is all wrapped up. I am sure I will find some last minute projects that haven't been done yet though. I also need to organize all of my decorations for the reception. Hopefully that can be done this weekend, since the FI is off.
ah I'm so worried!!!!!!!!!!! and stressed!
We still have to meet with the venue, band, photag for our final meetings
I haven't decide on favors. I'm torn b/w hot chocolate cone/baking cookies the weekend before/snowflake christmas ornaments/cds with christmas songs!
Programs....working on them after work this week.
Menu....will be finalized after we meet with our venue later this week
Out of town bags...bought stockings, but need to fill them!
I"m so excited....butu so NERVOUS and worried that everything isn't going to flow together.
@Miss Sea Spray - we're doing ornaments too... not all snowflakes, but different kinds of glass ornaments from Pottery Barn. We have a mercury glass snowflake, a glass bell and a glass icicle. We're putting them on and around a small table-top tree in the corner of the ballroom. :-)
What do we have left?
Getting the marriage license
Meeting with our officiant (who has been in and out of the hospital - yikes!)
Sending our "must-take" list to our photogs
Sending in a few final payments to various vendors (most are due next week)
Getting a final headcount to the venue
Mailing the RH dinner invites and BM luncheon invites (those were supposed to go out today, but we left them at home, so they'll get mailed Thursday).
My hair trial and second fitting are both this Saturday.
Assembling (and purchasing a few things for) the out-of-town guest bags.
Writing out our honeymoon itenerary (we have lots of things planned, they all just aren't assembled in the same place).
I think that's it...seems like a lot when I write it all out like that, though!

Anyone getting married on this day? What are your colors? are you doing a winter/christmas theme?
