I am getting married on December 18th…. For those of you getting married in December are you taking a honeymoon right away in winter? Or do you plan to wait 6 months or so until the summer?
I am thinking I want to go somewhere warm and tropical for my honeymoon…problem is that the tropical places in winter are real expensive….so I am thinking of us postponing the honeymoon until the summer, so we have more choices of where we can go, and save some money (for instance go to Carribbean as opposed to French Polynesia) Also since my wedding is right around xmas, that’s another reason to wait for the honeymoon….or postpone it a week.
If you are going somewhere in winter, where are you going? Somewhere cold or warm? Are you going to Europe or somewhere tropical?
thanks for input!

Remember, though, that going somewhere hot and tropical may be pretty uncomfortable in the summer months.

We’re delaying our honeymoon because we don’t have the time off right after the wedding. However, we are planning an epic trip to Argentina for next December. It’s summer in South America during our winter above the equator, so we think it will be a lovely way to experience some sun and summer in the middle of a long winter.

if you want tropical and inexpensive, i’d definitely delay. we went on a cruise in early march and some of the places were still kind of cool, i didn’t even go in the water during any of our beach excursions.

I’d be concerned about some tropical places being too hot in the summer. You can look up historical weather data at weathunderground.com and other websites.
I’ve been to both Jamaica and Punta Cana in March, and it was by no means chilly… highs in the mid-80s most of the time, and everyone was on the beach/water…. I think you might have hit a freak weather pattern artbee.

Wedding was in January, we left right after the wedding for our honeymoon to Jamaica. I’d do it that way if I had to choose again. it was beautiful – even in January! Keep in mind that tropical and traditional honeymoon/paradise vacations will be a big expense.

My FH and I are thinking about Malaysia. I travel a lot for work and have the miles to get there first class, but the hotel room is only about $250/night. So it’s tropical and beautiful and warm. We are leaving Jan 2 for 2 weeks.
