Just relax and realize you will make it work. You still have time until January as well, so you could start budgeting and ‘pretending’ you have those expenses already and just put the money aside.

I’m trying not to think of all the costs right now and how we will afford it. Darling Husband has actually been doing some of the thinking, but it’s too late since I’m already pregnant (total surprise). We know we can make it work and will gladly adjust our lifestyle some once the baby comes.

We’re not able to TTC until next winter but I totally get where you’re coming from. We’re trying to get ahead on some things, like renting out our condo and buying a single-family home, cutting down my student loan payments and bulking up savings…but there’s a lot that has to be done just to rent out our condo and find a new place. Darling Husband is in school and works part time, I work full time. It leaves nights and weekends to get our condo fixed up and ready to show. We don’t technically have to do anything right this second but if we want to start TTC as soon as he gets hired after he gets his degree, it feels like we have to do a lot of this ahead of time. Honestly, it’s overwhelming. It’s almost like I can’t prioritize what we should do first. Clean up the condo? Find a house? Clean up the condo and move in with parents? Clean up the condo, move half our stuff out and try to show it with us in it, then buy a house once it’s rented out? In the meantime I’m thinking I should decide about potential career moves and projects now. At the end of the day, I really want to have a baby and soon. But those same anxieties about money, affording day care, etc. are making me nervous. And I have several months to go. I’m sure three months out I’m going to be a nervous wreck. What if Darling Husband can’t find work? What if we don’t get a renter? What if we can’t afford day care? My current philosophy is to do what we can now and when the time comes, let what happens happen. Easier said than done though!
