- Wedding: January 2012
Here’s the deal–I’m from Dallas, but my FI and I met/live in LA. When we got engaged, we spent a couple weeks deciding where to have the wedding. We decided on LA because it would be easier to plan, the weather will be nicer (Jan wedding), most of our friends are out here, and it is where our relationship has developed. So I started looking for a place. After emailing about 40 places, and visiting about 15 of those, we decided to hire a wedding planner just to do some venue scouting. She gave us about 10 more options, and we finally were able to narrow it down to 1: The Beverly Hills Hotel
Originally, I wasn’t that excited about this place. But it keeps growing on me more and more, and now I kinda love it. I love that it is pink, and has a great garden for the ceremony. What I don’t like is how vintage it is inside, and the ballroom where our reception would be is okay, but nothing great. But, we are getting an AMAZING DEAL here. The idea that it is actually feasible that we could have our wedding here is crazy to me.
So what’s the problem? I’m having serious doubts about not having our wedding in Dallas. The more I think about it, the more I realize that I would love to have it there, and how much I would love to have all my friends see where I’m from. I also originally wanted to have a modern reception, which is definitely not the BH Hotel. SOOO I started looking in Dallas, and narrowed it down to this: The W Victory
This place is very modern, and just so happens to overlook the spot where my FI first told me he loved me. I know, precious. But, overall I love the BH Hotel more than the W. Still, the more I think about it, the more I want to get married in Dallas.
I’ve always dreamed of having this grand wedding, and I love the idea that not only does the BH Hotel have the gorgeous garden area, but it is a place that people have heard of. I probably like that fact a lot more than I should.
I have also heard/read about a million times that at the end of the day, you will remember the memories more than the actual wedding venue. So maybe we should have it in Dallas because I’ve ALSO always dreamed of that. And I’m wondering if the fact that it took me soooooo long to let myself be okay with an LA venue is a sign that I secretly would rather have it in Dallas? And in case you are wondering, I HAVE asked my FI (like 20 times) what he thinks and he keeps saying he doesn’t really care and will perfectly happy either way.
So I’m torn between having the wedding at a great venue or my hometown. I don’t know how to decide which is more important!
