Fiance and I put down a deposit on a venue (venue A) about a month ago because I felt sort of pressured – place was gorgeous but they were low on dates in our desired season so I booked a date.
Unfortunately it was the first place we looked at and so of course I looked at a few more and fell in love with another place too (venue B)!
Anyway here’s my issue – my 2nd payment is coming up for venue A on the 16th. Venue A is having a bridal showcase on the 15th, and the Venue B is having one on the 18th.
I’d love to just see them both one more time in person before I make a decision, so I want to go to both showcases.
Would it be horrible if I didn’t make the 2nd venue payment exactly on the 16th? if I waited and just saw Venue B’s showcase on the 18th and then decided, my payment would probably be late by 3 or 4 days at the most for Venue A. Do venues normally cancel your wedding if you’re late with a payment? Should I notify them that it might be late, or am I sort of just stuck with it now?

@MrsCreeToBe: If I were the venue I would tack on a giant late fee. I would read your contract.

Hmm okay, was just wondering. I guess it makes more sense to just decide now anyway. Thanks!

Honestly, I’d tell venue A that you’re undecided.

It can’t hurt to ask them. Tell them you are undecided and could you wait until the bridal showcase and have a couple days to think it over after that. It’s just 2 days

I would just stick with the venue you booked, you will not get the deposit back, unless it was $100 it would be a total waste of your wedding budget.

Is it possible to get in to Venue B before the 16th? And then you can drop off your second payment to Venue A and see it again before you hand over the money?

I would call venue A, talk to someone with decision making power, and asks for an extension til the 19th. If they refuse, then you have a different decision to make… but, my guess is they will extend you the weekend.

Call them and ask them you can make the payment a little late. I did that. My venue required 50% down but I had only 25% at the time and they were fine with that. I paid the other 25% at a later date on my own with no pressure or anything from my venue. However, my venue is not your typical venue (I am just renting the space…maybe it would have been different if I went with their all inlcusive package).
