    Hello Hive,

    I'm trying to decide on a reception venue in the Boulder area. Has anyone had a wedding or been to a wedding at The Greenbriar, The Red Lion Restaurant

    I have photographed a wedding at the Greenbriar and I remember everyone being really awesome. The only thing I would keep in mind, is that the dance area is above the other parts of the resturant. They may ask you to tone it down if it gets a little wild. ;) They were really nice about it with my couple though.

    I think it's a really pretty location with lots of places for pretty photographs!

    @MissDW:

    I visited all three places in May, here are my thoughts for any who might want them:

    Greenbriar: interior was very nice, dark tables and chairs, very nice china and glassware (green accents, which you might want to take into account). The linins are provided but are white only. You have the choice of upstairs (~70 comfortably with the dance floor added) or downstairs where the sunlit atrium can be used for dancing. You must use their caterer and bar, which (in my opinion) is totally fine on the food but can hurt the budget on the booze. There are 2 ceremony sites outside; one has the foothills and a grass field as a focus, the other is closer to the building and is long and skinny. I didn't like how short the walk way was, hard to make a grand entrance when there's only 10 feet to walk down. They are working on opening a 3rd location in front of a lovely fountain but they don't know if it will be open for summer weddings.

    Red Lion: Their typical set up is an outdoor ceremony on their grass lawn or creek-side (for smaller weddings) with a reception in a tent adjoining the restruant. You can "rent the basement" meaning borrow a whole assortment of glass vases and other decorations. Tina, their wedding coordinator can be a little abrasive if you're a sensitive soul but she gave me the impression she could really pull off what ever you imagine. As with the Greenbriar you have to use their food and bar, and again excellent food, potentially painful bar bill. the biggest drawback I found was the dirt parking lot, not sure it's what I want the first impression to be, but it really is a minor issue.

    Dove House (Lionsgate Center): This was our ultimate choice, choice of caterer, BYOB were nice selling points, but the in house coordinatior really sold us. The venue comes with tables, chairs, a wide selection of linin choices, glassware, gift talbes, and dozens of other things you didn't think you needed until you start putting together a floor plan. You have the option of hiring their staff to serve so if anyone is interested in self catering but don't want to stick your aunts with filling water glasses, this a great place for it. We liked that the space wasn't one giant room, ie there's a bar area that's distinct from the dance floor which is distinct from the dining room. We're not having our ceremony here though they do have space for it, well manicured lawns and a (slightly 80's) glass and brick gazebo.

    Hope this helps!
