go to a reputable store. i don’t know what you have in your area, and get fitted for a sneaker.  they will look at how you walk, run, sometimes they will do a heat test to see if you are prone or have flat feet.  they will recommend shoes and you can jog around the store and see what is best. it is free for them to do the foot analysis.  i have never been to place where they charge. so if they want to charge you, go somewhere else.

i usally buy a pair from the shoe store, then buy the same shoe online for much cheaper.

i had been wearing the same model but newer version of a shoe 2 years in a row.  when the brand had their end of year clearance online, i bought 5 pairs at 50% off, i go through 2/year.

@MrsBrown13:  neither.  more like a local or regional running store. stores that will take the time to work one on one with you to find the shoe that is right for you.

go to a chain store after you know the kind of shoe you need.

Definitely go somewhere local and have someone recommend what type of shoe you should wear. It really depends on your foot and how you walk. Are you looking for running shoes? Workout?
