I’ve been scouring this site for ages but have yet to be active on the site—I am a bit shy and intimidated!!
I am having a wedding very soon (less than 40 days!). To make it short and sweet, I am having a “night sky” wedding theme. I am a dreamer for sure! The colors are all dark navy blue, silver, and ivory flowers only. My wedding dress on the other hand is a blush. A bit whimsical right? Not what I was aiming for though. The girls will be in dark navy dresses and the boys will be in dark charcoal suits. Tables, lighting, and DJ will be in dark navy as well, while the flowers will be ivory. Have I gone a bit mad?
Do you think it all will look weird—especially if I am in a blush dress? Lets face it, blush is typically not a “night sky” color, but ivory on me = casper the ghost’s Korean cousin.
To avoid the whole “prom” look, none of our décor will have stars! Subtle hints (such as LEDs and sparklers) will hopefully make it feel like we’re under the stars.
Do you think it will look weird with a blush dress? Please help fellow ladies…I could definitely use some insight (and a cocktail) right now.

@Minaaakim: I think it will be beautiful! You are not a prop that needs to fit in with the rest of the decor. If you look better in blush, it only makes sense to wear blush.
You will be like the pink glow of evening preceding the night sky.

@Minaaakim: Sounds awesome to me! We are doing dark navy, ivory/white and yellow. So a bit different but I’m confident your color scheme will look fab. Super classy. 🙂

I think it sounds gorgeous. You’re the bride, you don’t need to match the decor – you’re the centerpiece! 😀 But I do think those colors will complement your dress really nicely.

oh thank you ladies for responding! I was so scared!
@julies1949 – i didnt think of it that way! What a good way to think of it!
@springbride23 – we’re going to have to trade photos…yellow goes beautiful with navy! Its very regal!
@lolot – I hope they all complement each other! I dont like being the center of attention so hopefully i wont look weird!!
Still a bit worried, but not as much!!

No, I love the blush idea. If blush looked good on my skintone I’d totally rock it! I was planning a similar themed wedding too but now my wedding is in the middle of spring and I decided to do a whole different theme but anyway, you don’t have to be the typical predictable bride in ivory. I think that with your skintone, it’ll be a dream which is what I think you may have been going for. So yes, you nailed it!

Our colors are blush, navy, silver and ivory so I’m sort-of in the same boat! But I’ve seen some really gorgeous things done with these colors and I think together they can be super classy. This site has a ton of really cute weddings: http://www.elizabethannedesigns.com. And many of the brides are in blush colored dresses! Good luck to you on your wedding day! 🙂
