forgot to mention...colors are shades of purple & blue with pops of chartreuse. Thanks!
Those are such beautiful spaces. What types of seating will you use? In my head I saw blankets with pillows or benches. Then some big potted plants around maybe?
Thanks! I'm not sure about seating for the ceremony yet...the reception will be round tables. Big potted plants might look nice! Trying to picture them in my head...
I know theyr'e done alot but I love the look of sheperd hooks. They would be beautiful for aisle decor. As far as the tables, how about topiaries. They're unique and classy at the same time. I really love the ones with 3 balls and not just 1.
@Mrs. Jellybean: Thanks for the picture! It's helping my brainstorming process. And shepards hooks would be a great idea for the aisles...I need to keep my eye out for cheap ones!
Here are some pretty barn/ranch/outdoor weddings that could be modified to fit your color scheme:

First thing that popped into my head when I saw the ceremony site was loosely wrapping some wide ribbon in a few colors around the "thingy". Sorry, I don't know the official name, but yeah, I'd say wrap some ribbon around it and tuck in either silk or real flowers throughout. I like the hanging strings idea too.
For the reception site I'd capitalize on the hanging globes if that's what you like and big lanterns. Not knowing what your monogram would be (or if you're changing your last name), I'd suggest maybe using lights in the rafters to show it (like N or M or something along those lines. It wouldn't be super expensive, especially if you bought a bunch of the $1 lights from like Wal-Mart or Home Depot around XMas.
@jordyn: Thanks for the links! Those make me even more excited to decorate the barn :-)
@zippey: that is a great idea!! i wonder if that would look nice with fake flowers...then I could make all of them way in advance!
@Toffee: yes I'm thinking hanging globes or lanterns would be excellent!
Your ceremony location is absolutely beautiful. I love the simple, rustic feel of the altar and the expanse of clear blue sky as your backdrop. The only thing that I think you could add which would accentuate your altar would be some beautiful, lightweight white linens hung from the altar. Imagine the linens floating in the breeze, like freshly cleaned linens on a clothesline--how refreshing and ethereal!
As far as other decorations for the ceremony, I say keep them simple or skip them. All eyes will be on you and your fiance anyway as you exchange vows against that gorgeous majestic background.
Reception decorations-- time to party! Keeping with the rustic theme, I'm thinking all-out barn square dance type thing. Dark, dimmed ambience, lightbulbs strung up across the rafters, hay strewn about across the floor (not kidding!). As loose and festive as you can make it. If you're going to have a candy bar or escort cards, consider using hay bales topped with plexiglass as tables for these items. Use hay bales stacked up in corners to both add to "realism" of your look and maybe take up some space so that the reception feels more close and cozy.
Thick, twisted rope as garland and/or chair decorations. Sunflowers, daffodils, daisies. Mason jars--and LOTS of them! Flowers in big mason jars, tea lights in small mason jars. Simple ribbon that's not fussy (read-- the fifty cent satin stuff). Kraft paper. Shades of red, burgandy, yellow, mustard. Popcorn. Cotton candy. Candy apples. Fruit punch.
Real band with a fiddle and/or banjo to really get your crowd going. Red, white and blue half-moon banners if you really want to get into it.
Of course, the more formal touches will be in your dress, your menus, your favors, your flowers.
love it!! It's exactly what I was looking for and never found..bummer for me..awesome for you!! chinese lanterns or string lights in that reception area would lend a very pretty glow...
Well here are some details ideas!! Imagine them in your colors...
From my own wedding - the flower pomanders/balls looked very pretty in real life. Everyone loved it.
Your ceremony venue reminds me of Mrs. Gummy Bears set up. This is one of my favorite ceremony pics!!!!
Thanks ladies for continuing to post ideas!! I love all the ideas you've posted...gonna have a hard time narrowing them down :-)
Get bails of hay for everyone to sit on at the ceremony and ask them to bring a blanket to lay over the hay. In the barn, I'd use TONS of white Christmas lights and white paper lights. I'd hang white fabric at the doors of the barn to add a bit of elegance, but not dressing it up too much. Maybe hang them like curtains, but tie them back with rope. I'd take some old wood and paint "wedding" and "reception" on the boards to give it a rustic look. Just a few ideas, Have a wonderful day!
Heres a few pics from my inspiration folder. Soo jealous of your location, simple and beautiful.
I just noticed youre having this wedding is in the PDX area, would you mind sharing where this is at? :)

Any ideas on how to decorate? First pic is where the ceremony will take place and second pic is where the reception is. I need some inspiration! Thanks!
