@MamaLlama:  I don’t see any ugly pillars. You have a beautiful blank space with endless possibilities.

The open beams willl make it very easy to decorate the ceiling.

Love your ideas of flowers or garland. You could string  up silk flowers or paper cranes too.

What time of day is the reception? If it’s in the evening, strings of globe lights or faiy lights would be beautiful. You can save by purchasing the lights off AdHuntr from another bride.

The first thing that came to my mind was paper lanterns. They would go well with the round lighting that is already there. Something like what is pictured here

you can get them in nearly any color imaginable on oriental trading . com

I agree with PP’s that there are no ugly pillars. I really like the last pic you posted with the flowers hanging down. I wonder if that’s time consuming to make? I’m thinking of using that one for myself now! 🙂

@MamaLlama:  I’m in the same boat. My wedding and reception is being held in my old church’s cultural hall. We’re planning on using gossamer and lights. This photo is our inspiration for decorating.

@mrsaxachef:  I love that last photo.  I have a similar style venue!

@MamaLlama:  I like the paper lanterns and the flower garland.  Also, FYI to do your tables it can be cheaper to buy table linens than rent.  My friend and I both used  Great blank slate, I think you will be able to come up with something really beautiful.

@MamaLlama:  If you reception is in the evening this would be pretty as well to give a nice glow to the room

If you hang the chinese lanterns you could maybe add some garland like this…..I think this is beautiful!

@MamaLlama:  Just to help when you are looking, branch spheres are grapevine balls. You can even make them yourself if you have access to free grapevine prunings. pruning is likely already done for this year.

A similar look that would work for an enchanted forest theme would be to hang branches horizontally from the beams and add lights.

You could also do branch centerpieces- often manzanita branches are used

Remember that many things can be purchased at low cost from other brides. who sell their lights, centerpieces etc after the wedding.

AdHuntr lists all the Craigslist ads in one site. you can filter the results by geographic region to cut down on shipping costs.
