So this past weekend I went to visit our reception site and realized that I cannot (or at least I don't think I can) hang paper lanterns in our main dinning hall.  To make matters worst, I noticed two large flat grill-like structures attached to the main walls in the dining area.  I have NO IDEA how to decorate these grills nor what I can do about my paper lantern problem.  I wish I could attach a photo here but I don't think I can.  I can send a picture if you are interested and send me your email address.

Any decoration ideas????? I could really use your help.

    Thanks all!!!!

Not too sure if I can really help, but...  How big are the grills?  Are you allowed to cover them?  If so, could you make some simple banners with cloth and fabric paint with a monogram or your names or some quotes or something?

Regarding the paper lantern issue... have you bought them already?  If so, could you use them in other ways?  I've seen them used in towers on the floor or as part of centrepieces.  You also could sell them :)

    I hope this helps.

we're using our lanterns to line the aisle, like in the picture from Cherry Blossom's post:

another idea i've come across here is to hang them from bamboo poles (put the poles in tall vases or narrow buckets with sand or rocks to stabilize).  can't find the link now, though. :(
