I have a large blank wall in my venue that I am struggling with ideas to decorate. It is floor to ceiling shelves. The only idea I have is to put picture frames and candles throughout but I find that a bit dull. The venue and wedding is rustic and I am very crafty.

    ok.. go! :)

I don't think you have to "fill in" the shelves.   I think hanging a few colorful paper lanterns, adding some big Burlap bows and a doily banner would look nice!  or some hanging tin cans with twine filled with baby's breath.

I know you already thought of candles, and as simple as that may sound, I think that would look the best on that wall! Esp for a rustic wedding.

Look how beautiful!! And I really like when they are placed at random :)

@AnnieAAA:  I really love the candles on the shelves idea. I would recommend flameless candles that are battery operated to prevent any heat/fire damage that could result from the shelves being low.

It is a pretty awesome space OP I love all the opportunities that the shelves provide. :)

this is probably going to sound completely ridiculous and cheap looking but I promise it isn't!!! We have really ugly walls in the barn and my solution (well my moms solution) is to get white fabric/tablecloth and hang it with white lights behind it. Here's an example: http://pinterest.com/pin/87186942755644599/

We are actually using white plastic tablecloths sewn together (from the Dollar Tree). When it's draped properly it looks like regular fabric.

@susanlea84@yahoo.com:  I love the ideas of filling all the shelves.  The opportunities are endless!

Candles, pictures, flower arrangements, other rustic "props" (eta: china, old suitcases, moss covered tree stumps).  You could even put chocolate or candy on the shelves for your guests.  And there's space for a guestbook.

I'd use a mixture of loads of stuff: mason jar candle holders with tea lights, candlesticks, pillar candles.  An array of different frames and pictures of yourselves.
