I just have to share this because a) I am really excited and b) I feel like I can breathe!
I just got engaged on Sunday and decided to get married in July. Problem is I live in wedding-central with very few venues that I knew I would enjoy and was panicking because I didn’t want to compromise on a venue or photographer.
BUT I HAVE WON THE BATTLE!
Both of the venues I love (choice A and B) actually have reasonable rates and Friday weddings available in July and August. I just have to tour, chose one and pick a date. YAHOO!
Secondly, there were two photographers I loved that had 6 hour packages for under $2500. The first one was only available midweek (that although the Fiance wanted that, it was vetoed by his mom and mine). The second one is a pair of girls and it turns out they are both pregnant and due during the summer. As a result, there is a CHANCE that if your wedding falls on one of the days they are in labour or the day or so after giving birth, you might only have one photographer. I love their pictures and am willing to take that chance so they are giving us 30% off, free engagement pics and even if they both come to shoot (which they likely will) then we still only have to pay the $1400 fee. SWEET!
Now that the two most important things are well on their way I feel such relief. Is this how all wedding planning will be? Haha!

Yay! Congrats! We’re looking at a short engagement too, and I found it daunting earlier today. Thank you for the reminder it CAN be done 🙂

@pokey_dc: I was scared too! I emailed some married/engaged friends and they all told me about how venues were booked up! Photographers were gone! Don’t even think about a weekend wedding!
Well they were WRONG! I wanted a Friday wedding to begin with, but wasd really willing to compromise to anything. Anyways, that worked out well because apparently no one else wants to get married on a Friday. The photographer I found out of sheer luck and I love, but they have few bookings because they are both pregnant. None of these things are an issue to me, however!
You can do it! 🙂

Thanks ladies!! I visited the first venue with my Fiance and mom today for a tour. I can’t say I fell in love with it, but it had the style I liked, it wasn’t huge (we are having 50 guests or so and I don’t want a huge room with like 6 tables) and the price was amazing for a Friday! Tomorrow I’m visiting my first choice venue (which is also like twice the price…) so we will see how it goes! 🙂
