Tomorrow's my birthday and I was supposed to go out with some friend but I'm probably gonna cancel.

I'm just so down- on Tuesday I got home from work to find that my apartment had been robbed.  Someone came in through the fire escape window and they took everything worth value.  Including my jewelry that my FI and family have given me over the years.  My laptop which had pictures I can't replace and months of work I have to redo.  Not to mention all the rest.  I'm just so angry that someone came into my safe haven and violated us.  They even went through my underwear drawer.

I'm relieved we weren't there when it happened, I know I have my health and a supportive family but I am just... bummed.  It hurts!  I keep thinking about someone walking through MY apartment and taking the things that mean so much to me.  The lack of remorse (I know they couldn't of cared becaus they also took our change jar and expensive bottle of tequila... who does that?)

I think its time to move out of this city.  We work so hard and try to be good people yet this stuff happens.  Granted, it can happen in another state but the prevalance here is far greater.  And when we have children I don't want this haunting me.

aw... I am so sorry to hear this. Robbery is such a personal violation. As much as you think you just want to hide... your friends could probably really cheer you up on your birthday and I bet you'd be glad if you went.

Oh my gosh, I'm SO sorry!! Mine and FI's cars were broken into one night a few years ago, and I felt so violated then. And that was just our cars! I can't even imagine how it would feel if it was our house. Frown

Oh no.  I'm so sorry this happened.  I can't even begin to imagine how you feel as this never happened to me but (((HUGS)))!!!!!!!  It does stink when you try so hard to be good people and something like this happens.  I'm hoping you called the police and did a report.

Maybe going out for your birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BTW) will cheer you up and get your mind off of things?!  Just a thought.

At any rate, hang in there.

    hugs!!

I'm so sorry this happened! What a violation, and it's like salt in the wound to have it happen right before your birthday!

You really should get out, though. Let your friends take you away from the apartment for a night of fun and forgetting. It's your birthday! You deserve to enjoy it, even when this terrible thing happened.

Oh no I'm so sorry to hear this!!

Get an alarm system--after something like this, you will need the extra security to truly feel safe.

I hope the police find out who did this

Wow...I'm so sorry this happened to you.  I had my car broken into before and that was rough as it is, so I know it must be horrible to know someone was in your home.  Try to enjoy your birthday and keep your mind off of this!

I am so sorry. I know what it's like, my fiance and I were robbed a few years ago, but we were home at the time!  Luckily, we lived in a house with a bunch of roommates, and the theives didn't come upstairs, just took everything from the downstairs.  It is very difficult to get over something like that.  To this day, I still triple check that the door is locked, and we even live in a different city now!  I wouldn't cancel on your friends, they would be happy to help cheer you up.  Happy Birthday, and I hope things start looking up soon!

And I agree with PPs. Go out with your friends!! Don't let those jerks take anything else from you, and that includes having a good time on your birthday!

    I'm so sorry!

This city, man...  Sometimes it's the best place in the world, other times it feels like you can't catch a break.

I agree with PPs.  Go out with your friends and throw back some pricey tequila.

I'm so sorry that is so scary. It's such an invasion of your personal space. I'm sorry your home has been violated that way. I'm glad you and your FI are safe.

Try to enjoy your birthday, I agree with PPs, let your friends take you out and cheer you up!

That's horrible! I've had my car broken into about 5 times (used to live in a bad part of the neighborhood) and it's just such an awful feeling knowing that some intruder is going through your personal belongings.

I don't think you should let it ruin your birthday though. If you'd rather stay home, maybe invite the friends over to your place, get some food delivered, and try to have some fun--maybe it'll help make you forget about the terrible thing that just happened there.

*hugs* I still hope you have a very happy birthday, you deserve it!

Thanks for you support bees.  I feel so stupid being so upset about it, I'm never one to stress this stuff for long.  I will get over it.  But I still don't wanna go out for my bday, I told my friends they can stop by the apartment if they'd like.  I mean afterall we do still have a TV and couches.  That way I don't have to dress up but I can still have people I like around.

I'm so sorry!! You shouldn't feel stupid about it! I'm sure anyone else would be upset & not want to do anything either. Things will get better :) Go out and have fun with your friends!
