Hi! Did you ever come up with any ideas? I'm doing the same thing and I have no clue where to start. DE isnt my home state, and I kinda don't know whats unique to it. I'm thinking I may go with Philly themed stuff instead...
University of Delaware is a pretty big deal - what about something representative of the school?
A keychain shaped like Delaware?
The state flower?
Hi! Isnt' there a really great brewery in Delaware (Dogfish Head or something bizarre like that). Other than that, I can't really think of much else that feels specific to Delaware! Sorry! But why not give your OOT another theme. Maybe a "Our Favorite Things" theme with some of you and your fiance's favorite candy, snacks, CD of favorite songs, etc. Or can you base it on your venue or type of wedding? Maybe a garden party themed bag? We got married in Wyoming at the Lazy Moose Ranch, so everything in our OOT was moose themed (i.e. moose postcards, moose chocolate, moose notepads, moose soaps, etc.).
We're also getting married in DE (my fiance is from Wilmington but we live in NY)and I agree that it's a little tough to come up with ideas!
How about some salt-water taffy or other candy from Dolle's in Rehoboth Beach? And missomally is right that Dogfish Head beer is in DE, although that might be a little tough for people to pack if they didn't drink it during the wedding weekend and have to fly. Maybe just some candies or snacks from a local grocery or specialty foods market? (I'm sorry I don't have any to recommend, but as long as it was somewhere local, it would probably work.)
@ramasterre: Where are you getting married?
I would recommend Dela-Where? themed items, which are cute for out of towners who many not even recognize Delaware as a state. Try the National 5 & 10. If you're from the area, choose items that remind you of the state. That can vary a lot from what city you're from too.
I would also suggest any beach items since Delaware has some of the best beaches around. Delaware is also known for "tax free" shopping, VP Joe Biden and former University of Delaware student, Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens. Correct me if I am wrong with any of the information. I have only been a Delawarean for 36 years! LOL
I grew up in Delaware, and I agree with Yin above -- out of towners love the "Dela-where?" stuff. At UD, all the out-of-staters wore those t-shirts. If you don't want to go the beer route with Dogfish Head, Brew Ha Ha is a Delaware coffee chain that has really cute mugs or even just coffee beans with their logo on the bag.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I am looking for things to put in my Delaware themed out of town bags. Any ideas or places where you think I can find some cute stuff?
Thanks!
