My dress was $1200 full price and I paid $836 at a small local bridal shop. It's Demetrios 4189 from their Sposabella line. You should be ok with your budget.
I'd highly recommend Demetrios. It seems like, just judging from the dresses that I tried on there, a majority of their dresses fall within your price range. Mine was also from the Sposabella line (4251), and I paid $1300.
I highly recommend them as well! I found a dress that is $850. And if you pay full price they offered me another 10% off. (not sure if they do this in all locations). But, I think I am going to purchase mine from netbride.com because they quoted me at $550.
My girlfriend just got her dress there in the one in indiana. She had great service (on a saturday nonetheless), they worked with her on a few things she wanted to fix and they had a great price (i think less than 1k) and her dress was/is AMAZING! It was my first time in a bridal store too (check out my post on my blog on that trip to Demetrios). It was a fun first time in a wedding store for me...

Hi Bees-
I'm just starting my dress shopping this weekend. My mom scheduled a shopping appointment for us at a Brides By Demetrios salon. Is it worth my time to go there if I don't want to spend more than $1000-$1500 on my dress? I don't know how much their dresses run.
Any insight?
Thanks!
