LUCKY YOU! Denby is sooooo expensive, you are lucky to inherit a beautiful set! We aren't registering for any Denby, but I do have a funny story about Denby dishes. We went to a great B&B once, and we were eating breakfast with another couple staying there. The wife of the other couple just kept going on about "Denby", which was apparently the dishes we were eating off of. I had no clue at the time how pricey those dishes were! We are registered at The Bay, and we saw a Denby sugar bowl for $90!!!
That is so clue! We are registering for a set of Denby Jet and Dots at Macys. I love that the stripes and dots mix and match together. Glad to know they really last!

Speaking of funny Denby stories, the mother of one of my roommates in my second year of university bought dishes for the house to help us get things going. We had made a list of supplies we'd need in the summer and divided it up equally.
She showed up on move-in day with a complete set of Denby dishes - for five 19 year olds, three of them boys (who could care less about dishes). Ridiculous! It still cracks me up.
thanks ladies, i was blown away when she offered it to me because i looked at some in the store and it was ridiculously expensive. we definitely won't eat off of them all the time!!! special occasions only :)

@OttawaBride: Once we all realized how expensive they were, we didn't want to incur the wrath of his mom. I'm pretty sure they actually made it through unscathed!

my mom bought an entire set of denby in 1979 when they lived in germany. she just told me she'd like me to have it when FI and i move into our new house. i am totally pysched! just wanted to share!
did anyone register for denby? any bees out there already have a set (or some)?
