Raleigh/Triangle bess I need help, can you recommend a dentist to me? I’m pretty new to the area and I’m in need of a dentist for just a basic cleaning. Can you offer any advice? I also need an optometrist, if you know a good one!

Oooh oooh! I have one! I recently started seeing Dr. Alicia Ramos in Durham, near Southpoint. She’s great. She sits down with new patients to go over their history and to explain everything about the checkup before you’re in the exam chair. I feel like she’s very attentive and treats you with respect. And the receptionist Jeannine is fantastic. She practically bent over backwards to schedule my appointment at short notice. Highly recommended.
Don’t have an optometrist for you, though. Welcome to the area!

I just started going to Dr Ed Bailey in Morrisville. I’d been dreading going to the dentist, and I ended up needing a root canal 🙁 Anyway, Dr. Bailey and his staff were really wonderful. Two other girls in my office go to him, and they both highly recommended him.
Dr. Lisa Bell at Arboretum Eye Care Associates (in Cary near SAS) is my optometrist. I’ve only been once, but I don’t have any complaints. It might be a little pricey, but my contacts are expensive no matter what. Eye Care Associates is also a chain, so I don’t know if you want a private practice.

It doesn’t sound like you’re in Chapel Hill, but I’ll give recommendations anyway. I’ve gone to Dr. Seaton in Carrboro for many, many years, and she’s fantastic. Great listener, great at explaining things, and her hygenists and receptionists are always awesome.
As for optometry, I’ve also gone to Chapel Hill Eyecare for almost 15 years. They have two optometrists, Dr. Gropper and Dr. Carstens– female and male respectively, if you have any preference. I’ve had appointments with both, both are excellent. Their “optical boutique” can be pricey, but I’m sure they would have no problem with you taking your prescription to a cheaper provider if that’s what you want. But on the other hand, their frame and lens set-up is great and their repair service on what they make is also super-handy.
If I’m a little effusive with the praise, it’s because I’ve moved away from Chapel Hill and I feel weird about leaving them!

Since no one has recommended a Raleigh dentist, I will. I go to Dr Donna Woodruff off Six Forks Road (near North Hills Mall). She’s a one-woman shop and she is fantastic. She has a dental hygenist, Ella who is the go-to for most things. Dr. Woodruff does the cleanings and fillings, though. She’s better priced than a large dentist group I went to in the area and flexible.

Oh and for eyes, I go to Eye Care Associates, as well. I’ve been to the one in Brier Creek and the one in Knightdale and they’re both great. Well staffed, knowledgable people.
