Mr TTR & I Eloped to a Destination Wedding in The Florida Keys (so just the 2 of us saying our vows to one another on the beach)

We organized everything from afar (pretty easy) except for our Marriage License.  That we had to pick up once we arrived… The State of Florida makes it easy… simple paperwork – NO Medical / Blood Test – Low Cost – and NO Waiting Period for Non-Floridians.  Took us less than 1 Hour at the Court House and then we were good to go.

Our Package that we bought on-line included… Beach Front Location – Officiant – Professional Photographer (in our case for 30 Minutes) – and approx. 50 Edited Photos with FULL Copyright… we added on my Bouquet & his Bout.  Total under $ 500

We arrived at “the spot” on the beach at our prearranged time.  Met the Officiant & Photographer, spoke for a few minutes to establish a rapport, and then the Ceremony began.

We chose a Non-Denominational Service… and the words were lovely.  We both teared up during our Vows.  We were married barefoot, surrounded by the sand, surf, gorgeous ocean and a immense sky.  The Ceremony took about 10 Minutes.  Then the Officiant said their Goodbyes, and we were left with the Photographer for another 20 Minutes, as the Sun dipped into the ocean for a PERFECT Island Sunset.  It was FABULOUS.  NO REGRETS

Our Wedding Pics were waiting for us when we arrived home (mailed on CD), and our Marriage Certificate (that the Officant filed) came in the mail also from the Florida County Courthouse in about a month.

After Sunset… Mr TTR & I left the location where we were married and went back to the Hotel for a drink in the beach front bar.  Then we headed off to our Dinner Reservation in a fave Restaurant that also looks over the ocean.  After all that it was back to our Honeymoon Suite, again at the Resort… and our fabulous room overlooking the ocean… where we called family & friends and enjoyed the wonderful amenities of our posh room… including sitting on our balcony and seeing the moonlight on the water, and 1000s of stars… while sipping Champagne.  PERFECT DAY – PERFECT NIGHT

Next Day we had late Check Out… we packed up and headed off to our Airport Hotel and another day or relaxation before flying out to Old San Juan for 2 more days of R&R before we embarked on our Caribbean Cruise.

Whole Wedding & Honeymoon was VERY VERY STRESSFREE.  LOVED every second of it.  Would do it over in a milli-second

On the otherhand, BOTH Mr TTR & I are Encores (and older) so we’ve had the Traditional BIG White Pouffy Family Wedding before in our lives…

Those can be fun too (in so much as the day & the memories) but they are a TON OF WORK, and a LOT MORE STRESS.

It really is all about WHAT YOU WANT… and what your priorities are.

This time we wanted to make it ALL ABOUT US… so we opted to Elope to a favourite Destination to Marry, and then have a FANTASTIC Pampered Honeymoon.

(Mind you we came home and threw a Party for Family & Friends with Cocktails & Hors d’ouevres – Cake & Champagne – and DJ & Dancing.  BUT in reality it was a tiny expense vs what a full on BIG White Wedding Sitdown Dinner would have cost us.  Again NO REGRETS)

Hope this helps,

@CarterLove:  We don’t regret it. We had a 10 day engagement, and only our parents, my brother, and a handful of our closest friends were in attendance. No hassle, no stress. We had a reception months later with 100 people.

@CarterLove:  it really is nice with a more intimate ceremony. I feel sorry for all the ladies who require a year or more of planning just for a 5 hour event.
