Well, you can always try for a pre-owned wedding gown. There are several websites, including Weddingbee where girls can post classifieds. Another option would be looking for a sample sale. But, I’m sure you can find a new and beautiful gown within your price range. I would recommend going to a website such as the Knot and do a search for gowns within your price range. Once you get an idea of what you like, write down the designers names and go to their websites to see where you can try on the gowns in your area. Good luck!

Post some dresses that you like & maybe we can help you find some similar for a lower price! πŸ™‚ Plus, I’d love to see some styles you are interested in. I was in the same boat but managed to find a dress I love for about $1200. But yeah, post some up or some links and we would love to help!! πŸ™‚

I would suggest that you hunt the following places once you know what you want:

http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/

http://www.whitexchange.com/

http://www.woreitonce.com/

http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/in (<—this is the list of craigslist cities in IN, but there are locations all over North America!)

http://www.ebay.com/ (Although mostly what you find here seems to be Chinese rip-offs of designer dresses and not the real thing.)

http://www.weddingbee.com (the classifieds here can have amazing deals!)

This also might be werid, but local consignment shops often have BM dresses or sometimes wedding dresses. There is even a consignment shop here in Milwaukee which specializes in nothing BUT wedding gowns, BM dresses, MOB dresses, etc. i’ve never been there, but a friend found her dress dress there for $200, and it was originally a $1,500 gown! Also, there is a company out of…Toronto? which gets  wedding dresses donated to them from both brides and designers. They sell their dresses cheap, and all the proceeds go towards Cancer research. The tour the US and Canada year round.

Also, don’t discount getting a brand new dress somewhere for an amazing price! I am a bride on a tiny budget (needed to find a dress for $500 or less, including the cost of alterations!). I found my dress on etsy. Its custom sized to my body and the designer is doing custom work on it for me (the neckline, adding a bustle, etc) and I am getting it all for under my budget! There are some amazing gowns on etsy which are resonable. Plus, you could always find a designer willing to make your dream dress for less! πŸ™‚

Good luck!

Have you tried looking at any gowns by Casablanca or Maggie Sottero? You can find these gowns in your price range, and they have many different styles.

So I tried on Maggie dresses and they are great – make you look sooo skinny w/ the corsette.

But, I then fell in love with a dress that was quadruple the maggie price range.  So if you are still stuck on the higher price range – for me it was b/c I fell in ove with expensive fabric.  Anyway, I found the exact dress I tried on in the store (ulla maija whirlwhind) on preownedweddingdress.com and it happened to be from a girl who was just 30 mins away.  She listed her $5K dress for $900 and I offered $600 and she took.  I was in total shock.  It fit me perfectly and all I need to do is fix some broken buttons.
