Just found out that I may be able to make to india for a couple weeks to shop for my bridal outfits.. does anyone know of good local designers in mumbai delhi or else where who may be able to do custom made bridal stuff.... i am very picky so i need them to have very very quality work... and deliver on time... money wise they should be reasonable... i know big name designers are expensive and not reachable to everyone... dont mind working with a local designer.... any ideas?? any suggestions??

Honestly, I think you may be surprised at the quality of the ready-to-wear pieces in India, especially in Mumbai. Although they are 'ready-to-wear' they are often unique pieces that you can alter and add to as much as you want. It might also be tough to have a designer make a piece for you to bring back in just a few weeks, and it's always a good idea to have the final product in hand before heading back to the States. I found my reception saris at Queens on Marine Drive in Mumbai. I was really impressed with the quality of their pieces, crystalwork, etc. They have amazingly beautiful lehngas too, and a very talented tailor.

I heard the prices in india, esp in the bigger name stores are not cheap anymore.

I had a friend who shopped at benzer, her out fit is very beautiful, but they screwed up the fitting... what good is a dress without the fitting... scares me,,, thats why i am looking for a customer made .. i think i will look at both options though when i go... i am also going to look around in Nj before i go... maybe i will find something here itself and save myself the aggravation.
