We're doing a growing up slideshow at our wedding -- just one song, 4 minutes or so. I cannot choose a song to save my life.

See, the thing is I don't want a typical wedding song. I want something fresh, yet appropriate for a growing up montage with pictures of us now (at the end).

    Please, please help.

Maybe not at all your style, but there's a really awsome, slower song called In a Little While by Hanson, and it talks about the girl a man is falling in love with when she was a little baby, then about fulfilling aspirations and being together.  It's beautiful and I think it would be great!

    Good luck!

I think that song was originally by U2 so that version might suit your taste better if you're not into Hanson.

I like The Luckiest by Ben Folds, I'm Yours by Jason Mraz and Question by The Old 97s.

Better Together by Jack Johnson is also a good one.

My Wish - Rascal Flatts --- it's country so you have to like country music ... but I strongly suggest checking out the lyrics!

I've just discovered some great lists on weddingwire that include songs used for all different parts of a wedding, a lot of which are nontraditional. The best part is that you can click and listen via YouTube. Go to weddingwire.com and then click on the "Music" link in the "Share" paragraph (right in the middle, toward the top of the page).

    HTH!

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I will have to listen to clips at home tonight.

In the meantime, what do you guys think of "Fresh Feeling" by the Eels? Not fitting? Too happy? Too coupley for a growing up thing? Gah.

I don't know of "Fresh Feeling" but a few of my favorites are: "Something Coming Over" by O.A.R (pretty new); "Baby It's Fact" by HelloGoodbye; "Everything" by Michael Buble; and "Meant For Each Other" by Jack's Manneqin.. Good luck!

There's a country song (if you like country) called "Remember When" by Alan Jackson - it's about a couple growing old together.  I don't know if it would work, but check it out.

Have you tried looking on Pandora?

You can make your own radio station of songs you like and it will recommend others in a similar vein. You might find something you like.

Also try googling "slide show" wedding and song and see what comes up - there are lots of lists out there. Also iTunes has some wedding compliations that are good and from different genres.

Go with your gut and what suits your personality.
