    Aloha Bees,

Please HELP! I'm trying to desperately book a Hawaii wedding in Summer of 2011.  The FH and I both live in Hawaii but his entire family is from the WEST coast.  Half my family lives in the EAST coast.  Not only is travel to Hawaii expensive, you lose almost a day flying each way. We want to be considerate of both Hawaii and OOT guests.

MY DREAM location is booked solid on Saturdays and available on FRIDAY, July 2, 2011.  It's a 3 day weekend, so that allow family some flexibility, however, guests living in Hawaii would have to brave a 1.5 hour drive after work to get to the venue.  Wedding would start around 5:00 (semi-trafficky).  Family would have to fly in on Wed or so and rehearsal dinner on Thurs, but we'd have the 3 day weekend to relax.

My second venue is about $1500-2K more, and is available for one SATURDAY, June 18, 2011.  Based on reviews, this place is somewhat poorly managed.  BUT ... it is available on a SATURDAY ... not a holiday weekend. And the venue is still beautiful -- both are beachfront.

FH and I want everyone to have fun and enable our friends and family from out of town to come.  If you were flying to Hawaii for a wedding, which date is more convenient?? FRIDAY/HOLIDAY WEEKEND OR SATURDAY? Does it matter? We figure anyone coming to Hawaii isn't going to bother coming for just a couple of days anyway ... I need to book in the next few days and am stressing out.

    THANK YOU!!

Is Sunday of the holiday weekend an option?  This way it works for in town and out of town guests.  and since Monday is an off day anyways, people don't have to worry about leaving early or flying back.

How many of these out of town guests do you think will come either way?  I wouldn't plan on going with the more expensive venue on Saturday if you don't think a lot of people will travel from the mainland.  Also, I'm thinking that people who really want to be there will come no matter what day, but the Friday wedding might cut some people off that were on the borderline.

It doesn't really matter for exactly the reason you said. People that come are prepared to spend several days already. I had my wedding in Hawaii on a Friday of a holiday weekend and it was nice because it allowed for an extra day that people could be on vacation without having to take vacation time from work.

No, the Sunday is booked :( These two dates are really the ONLY feasible dates for both venues until September!! I've looked into every other possible option, and have thought of Sundays too ...

We're really lucky that probably about 90% of the OOT guests will probably come ... so they will definitely have to take of work and will probably fly in around Tues or Wed (as opposed to a Thurs night for a Sat wedding).

Thanks for the comments so far, they are helpful :)
