My FI job has changed and he is on straight commission now so we have no idea what our finances will be this month. Our engagement party is simple, being held in my parents house and we will be making all our own food but the menu that we did have needs to be adjusted so that we can give them good food but not break the bank. There are around 26 people coming, it doesn’t have to be fancy but I need good CHEAP foods to make for our party. We are having BYOB and a buffet style spread.
Please help I am panicking over here!

Do a taco bar! It would be fun, easy and affordable!

Since its buffet style i would definitely take advantage of all those friends that ask if you need help! Even if only one or two friends bring a dish or two, thats less for you to do & cheaper.
How about a Lasanga, a baked Ham or chicken or you could wait for a good sale and get some ready made Kabobs (I know that No Frills always seems to have a sale on them sooner or later) then make some saffron rice and you have a quick/cheap greek inspired meal

Italian foods are usually inexpensive to make, and easy to make ahead of time.
Lasagna, stuffed shells, meatballs, sauce, breads, a big salad. Done! 🙂

Italian, without a doubt!! Spaghetti w/ Meatballs is super reasonable some garlic bread, salad and you’re good to go!
Or, if it s nice enough where you are I love good old fashion BBQ’s, hamburgers and hotdogs. As a couple friends to bring the side dishes!
