Hi everyone, I need advice on if this sounds like a good menu. The wedding is in October @ 2:00 and the reception will be shortly after and short and sweet, no music or anything since it will be held at church. I have already printed out the invites and they show “Dessert reception to follow”. We are thinking maybe about 150 ppl.
- Cocktail weenies
- Veggies & dip
- Lady fingers
- Peanut butter balls
- Strawberry shortcake trifle
- Oreo & Brownie trifle
I am also having a candy buffet with the following:
- Chocolate whoppers
- Milk Choc balls
- Carmel Robin Eggs
- Jordan Almonds

How late do you expect the reception to go?
As desserts and snacks go, these look good. The candy looks a little chocolate heavy, but very diverse and delicious!

I’d nix the cocktail weenies, and swap the veggies with fruit to keep with the dessert theme. Maybe add mixed nuts instead of just peanuts.

reception should last no later than four

@babymakes3: +1 on the fruit.
What are you doing for beverages? A sparkling cider toast would be nice since I’m assuming no alcohol. Are you doing a cake or cupcakes?
I think a dessert reception sound lovely, especially since I have a bit of a sweet tooth!

I think you should keep the cocktail sausages and the veggies and dip – I know it’s supposed to be a dessert reception, but those are probably the only things on the menu I personally would eat, as I don’t have a very sweet tooth. I do think it’s wise to have at least a couple of savoury items.
